The Highlander's Accidental Marriage

Braeden is a brilliant, young archaeology professor, who plans to make an even bigger name for himself in the field; marriage is quite a few years away. No time now. Lady Sarah, secretly, is a blossoming author; marriage is not on her agenda. Not ever! A trip to the highlands, to visit her twin sister, "accidentally" changes everything! Entertaining with likeable characters. Loved the strong and caring characters. Ending not as strong as the beginning. Good read. 3 1/2 stars. Book free for honest review.

Sarah is a force to be reckoned with. Small in statue but large in personality. Braeden is taken aback by Sarah's beauty but turned off by her demeanor. I received an ARC of The Highlander's Accidental Marriage by Callie Hutton in exchange for an honest review. Braeden and Sarah's story was a lot more light hearted and comedic than the previous book in this series. Sarah is a lot more open minded than her sister Sybil. That quality has come at the cost of her being a bit more innocent in matters of the world. I mean how else would she find herself in the situation that she did? I don't want to ruin the story for future readers so I'll keep this review brief. An open heart and open mind can lead to a meeting of the minds. Ms. Hutton has brought to the table another magnetic read.

THE HIGHLANDER’S ACCIDENTAL MARRIAGE is a lovely book, very well-written, with very appealing characters. Professor Braeden McKinnon is on his way back home from Edinburgh University, when he comes across two damsels in distress. There was a carriage accident, and their driver and footman perished. As it happens, Braeden is going in the same direction as the ladies, so he offers to help them. Braeden has no intention of getting married, and he will be leaving shortly for Rome on an archaeological expedition, but he is quite taken with the lovely Lady Sarah Lacey. Luck is not on their side, as there are a few other incidents, and then Sarah’s maid falls ill and must remain at an inn. Then Sarah convinces Braeden to accompany her all the way to Bedlay Castler, where her twin sister Sybil resides. However, when Braeden and Sarah arrive at an inn, there is only one room left, and they decide to pass off as brother and sister, but the inn owner knows Braeden, and Sarah blurts out that they are married. There is one little problem: they are now officially husband and wife, as it is the law in Scotland. The story, though a tad predictable, but THE HIGHLANDER’S ACCIDENTAL MARRIAGE still is a surprisingly lovely and quick read, mostly because of Ms. Hutton’s smooth prose and the very engaging characters. There is just the right amount of Scottish expressions to give the book enough local flavour without making it distracting. The vivid descriptions highlight the Scottish scenery, as well as the life of ordinary folk. What really made this book work for me is that Braeden and Sarah really like each other, they have much in common, and they have an easy friendship, as well as a mutual attraction, and they ease into married life painlessly. THE HIGHLANDER’S ACCIDENTAL MARRIAGE is an elegantly written and charming story. I actually give 3 ½ stars I received a complimentary copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
