Well is this the last new topic of the old forum. This will be the thread for the bridge extension module connected to Luib Bridge. 9ft single track, with a bridge in the middle. You're going to have to wait for the new forum for the sketches, but the timber has been cut, but I can't put on the party dress just yet as Toto has a surprise task for me, seemingly some thing is happening tomorrow . Paul
First baseboard made I am using 12mm ply for the ends and back and 2 x 6mm layers of ply for the front, with a timber shelf running around the bottom edge to stiffen / keep straight the ply and provide a surface to lay the foam boards on to. And now with the 6mm front layer - the 2nd layer will be fitted latewr and will conform to the landscape profile. Paul
Ehhhhh ........ hold on a minute ....... where did you get the time to do that hope your homework is up to date.
Aaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhh! Now I understand what you were talking about on Saturday. Looking good. {RMWEB MODE:ON "Craftsmanship/Clever" RMWEB MODE OFF}
A little more work done, managed to rescue a couple of lengths of CLS to form the beams to support the boards on the cave. Then did a quick test fit. Next job is to install the dowels and bolts Paul
The elevated sections at the ends are the track height, the intention is to have the track raised with a bridge spanning the baseboard joint. It will become clearer once the track starts to go down, but I need dimensions from Toto of there the track will enter on the lefthand side - prod prod
Looking very well built as usual Paul. I'm still contemplating ....... pondering ......... pontificating ........ dithering ......... procrastinating ........... and having a good old think. cant get to a happy place with my track plan changes. It'll come though. toto
Depends how far I pull the legs up 210mm or 8 1/4", but the jig will put the alignment dowels and bolts in the same place from the top surface of the board - will post pics later, so will align with your 5" deep boards without issue. The jig uses the baseboard top and front sides of the board as a datum, so changing the width of your boards may need an adapter board or a bit of fiddling to suit. Paul
Your making good progress Paul Very neat as ever. I take it the Jig your talking about, is the same one that was used to set up Toto’s Luib Bridge boards alignment Dowels
If you can't decide on a track plan, why not go down the inglenook route, or an inglenook with a loop or a back to back inglenook...?? Cheers, Gary.
Hi Chris - yep the same jig The five holes are 30mm in diameter, the two outer and center holes are for bolts, the other two are for the alignment dowels. For the connection to the traverser I've had to add an temporary extra piece of ply as there will be 5.5mm fascia board I have a 30mm dia collar fitted to my router The the router is inserted in to the holes and the the router plunged down for the cuts. More to follow as domestic duties call Paul
Thanks Paul Great way to do it on a combined project almost guarantees it will fit when the parts meet.
