ArmInfo.Armenian Deputy Minister of Economy, responsible for agricultural direction, Artak Kamalyan participated in the 41st session of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) in Italy on June 21-24.
According to the press service of the Ministry of Economy of Armenia, during the session, the situation in the field of food and agriculture was discussed, relevant reports were heard, the FAO medium-term program for 2020-2021 and the FAO budget for 2020-2021. During the visit, Kamalyan held meetings with the ministers of agriculture of France and Georgia, as well as with representatives of the US Agricultural Department. A wide range of issues related to agricultural policy was discussed. During the meeting, the Deputy Minister with the Deputy General Director of FAO, Regional Representative for Europe, Central Asia Vladimir Rakhmanin outlined the ways for the most effective cooperation between the organization and Armenia. At the 41st Session of the FAO Conference, held in Rome from June 22 to June 29 Qu Dongyu of China was elected Director-General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO). FAO is a UN specialized agency leading international efforts to fight hunger.
The goal of the organization is to ensure food security for all and to guarantee regular access of the population to high-quality food. FAO, with more than 194 member countries, operates in more than 130 countries around the world.
