Camp musical Tutti takes place in the picturesque Eastern Townships. 2020 is our 25th anniversary! Our goal is to encourage students to love making music. We run residential and day camps, and we offer a flexi-stay program. Partial scholarships are available. As a non-profit organization, we will present our annual benefit concert, featuring the internationally acclaimed pianist Dang Thai Son, on April 16, 2020 at 7:30pm in Bourgie Hall, 1339 Sherbrooke St. West, Montreal H3G 1G2. We welcome participants of all ages (children/adults), all levels and all instruments. We teach in English, French and Russian. Courses include choir, master classes, individual lessons, chamber music and orchestra, theatre, art, swimming and other recreational activities. We end with a gala concert.

The Canadian Opera Company’s Summer Opera Camps offer children entering grades 1 through first year university an immersive operatic experience. Participants will playfully explore opera as both creators and performers, while developing their skills in a fun, yet intensive, week-long camp. Weekly activities include story creation, singing, composing, acting, improvisation, and costume, props and set design. Participants will work with professional artists to create and design their own opera, nurture performance skills, and experience every element of an opera come together in a final performance for family and friends. Ideal for any arts-loving teen. All levels of experience are welcome. No audition required.

Sing the Mozart “Requiem” in Italy! For singers aged 18-80. Join conductor Matthew Otto, COSI 2020’s Choir-In-Residence, the Toronto Youth Choir, Sulmona’s Cappella Musicale Pamphiliana, conductor Alessandro Sabatini, COSI Soloists, and instrumentalists of Ensemble COSI, in vaulting ancient cathedrals of Sulmona and Pratola Peligna. Enjoy “la vita bella” of Sulmona’s medieval town centre, introductory Italian lessons, master class attendance, group music sessions with COSI’s international faculty, rehearsals, the glorious culminating performances, and a day trip to the Amalfi Coast. All are included in the basic fee. Not included: transportation, food, and accommodation (made available by arrangement at €40/night double occupancy).

Open to community choir conductors, teachers, and conducting students, this five-day workshop will enable participants to deepen their expressive capabilities from the podium and explore a breadth of choral repertoire from multiple time periods and styles.

Morning seminars and masterclasses will focus on different repertoire and topics each day, including accessible historical repertoire, score study, preparing larger works, and performance practice. In the afternoons, participants will join with other students in Western University’s summer music education Master’s program in masterclasses focused on rehearsal techniques. Participants will choose one piece to rehearse in the afternoons with the laboratory choir.

Choral Mosaic 2020 is a brand-new choral music festival at the Living Arts Centre in Mississauga from June 26 to 27, 2020. Choral music lovers are invited to attend workshops and master classes that are designed for singers of all skill levels. These include: Embodied Choral Singing with Dr. Kimberly Barber, Building a Healthy and Expressive Choir with Dr. Elroy Friesen, Exploring Multicultural Connections Through Community Music with Dr. Charlene Pauls & Natalie Fasheh, An Introduction to South Indian Singing with Suba Sankaran & Dylan Bell and Raising Voices: Music and People Living with Dementia with Bob Anderson & Ruth Watkiss. We are a 2-week summer program catering to advanced string and piano students in late high school or university. Through a holistic and collaborative approach, our intensive program aims to provide students with a transformative experience that will positively impact their futures as musicians and as inspired leaders in their fields. Entering its seventh season in 2020, the Halifax Choral Conducting Institute offers world-class conducting instruction in an integrative curriculum and dynamic community of learning, equipping conductors of all levels to be confident and courageous musical leaders. This week-long workshop (July 20 to 24) offers Active and Auditing conducting tracks and a Choir-in-Residence opportunity for experienced choral singers. New in 2019, the HCCI Women’s Conducting Institute addresses the gender-gap in conducting by empowering women conductors with dynamic musical and leadership tools for the podium. This 3-day event (July 27 to 29) is the first of its kind in Canada!

A non-sacred day camp for those ages 4-18 who want to explore the performing arts. No prior experience is necessary. Instruction from experienced professionals in singing, instrumental music, acting and drama, arts and crafts. Runs mornings only for children ages 4 to 6, and from 9am to 3:30pm for kids aged 7 to 18. Pre- and post-camp care ($10-$15/day), and subsidies for all fees, are available.

In this two-week intensive program, participants will strengthen their personal musicianship and pedagogical skills, with content grounded in a contemporary understanding of the philosophy inspired by Zoltán Kodály. Levels I, II and III are offered. Participants will engage in supportive, musically educative opportunities through singing, reading, writing, moving and creating to build personal skills and knowledge to assist in classroom music teaching and learning.

Lake Field Music Camp brings together adult amateur musicians of all ages with intermediate to advanced skills in a friendly and supportive environment. The one-week program focuses on classical and jazz with a sampling of world and popular music. Participants build their own program from more than 50 workshops, technique and master classes, choirs and instrumental ensembles coached by 20 experienced instructors specializing in vocals, strings, woodwinds, brass, piano, guitar, bass and percussion. Classes for beginners are also offered for those wanting to try something new. Evening concerts provide performance opportunities and a chance to hear the instructors. The beautiful waterfront campus includes a performance theatre, onsite accommodations and meal plan. Day program also available.

Since 1962, the Niagara Symphony Orchestra’s Summer Music Camp (SMC) has inspired and encouraged young musicians from the Niagara Region and beyond. We offer music instruction in a fun, inclusive day-camp atmosphere and welcome campers of all abilities.

Campers have the opportunity to experience daily recitals featuring faculty and guest artists, approximately 32 hours of masterclasses in each two-week session, orchestra, string ensemble, jazz band, or choir participation, specialized age-appropriate Early Years programming in both sessions, supervised outdoor recreation and daily crafts, and every camper participates in SMC concerts.

Summer Opera Lyric Theatre (SOLT) is a unique program combining learning and performing in an environment that reflects the professional operatic world of today. Participation in the SOLT workshop is achieved through an assigned role(s) after the audition process. The program combines a series of music rehearsals, master classes, dramatic discussions, lectures and staging rehearsals, culminating in the week of performances at the Robert Gill Theatre. Now in its ninth year, TorQ Percussion Seminar is an opportunity for university-level percussionists to come together for an intense but rewarding week of rehearsals, discussions, master classes, creation and performance, under the direction of the TorQ Percussion Quartet (Richard Burrows, Adam Campbell, Jamie Drake and Daniel Morphy). Operated in association with Stratford Summer Music in beautiful Stratford, Ontario, Canada, TPS2020 will culminate in a series of public performances as part of the festival.

The core of the TPS experience is ensemble rehearsal. Each participant will be part of multiple ensemble pieces that will be rehearsed throughout the week; that rehearsal process will culminate in a finale concert, presented as part of Stratford Summer Music.

The Vancouver Symphony Orchestral Institute (VSOI) offers students a comprehensive and nurturing orchestral training program. Our faculty is comprised of musicians from the renowned Vancouver Symphony Orchestra, under the direction of VSO music director, Maestro Otto Tausk. Musical opportunities abound, as all of our students play in the Institute Orchestra, rehearse and perform in chamber ensembles, and participate in masterclasses and repertoire classes. The VSOI offers fantastic performance opportunities, including student and faculty recitals, a concerto competition, as well as chamber music performances. The VSOI culminates with performances by the Institute Orchestra in iconic Vancouver settings, including the Chan Centre for the Performing Arts, one of Canada's finest concert halls.

The Stratford Summer Music Vocal Academy launches its sixth season in 2020. We are an intensive study program for professionally-trained singers and for pianists with a keen interest in pursuing careers as coach/accompanists. Our internationally recognized faculty focuses on the perfection of musicianship, language and technique within a supportive and creative atmosphere. This year we offer the course in two sections; Opera and Oratorio (July 20 to 29), and Art Song (July 30 to August 5). Applicants may apply to one or both of these sections. Applicants should either be in a degree/training program with a university, conservatory or opera company, or have recently completed such training. The Performer-Composer Residency at the Westben Centre for Connection & Creativity is an intergenerational and international gathering of creative risk-takers whose practice involves some combination of performance and composition.
