ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK and NABU announce winners of organic agriculture competition

YEREVAN, July 2. /ARKA/. The ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK and the Nature and Biodiversity Conservation Union (NABU), one of the oldest and largest environment associations in Germany, have summed up the results of a competition announced as part of their jointly implemented program "Development of Organic Agriculture 2019-2020."

When summarizing the results of the competition, ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK and NABU took account of the applicants’ possibilities to export their certified organic products, their prospects for creating new jobs, as well as the conditions of their operation in the border areas.

This year 19 applicants were recognized as winners. According to the results of the competition and taking into account the activities in the field of BIO-production in 2019-2020, the program provides for the creation of more than 100 jobs. From the beginning of the program to this day, 300 permanent and seasonal jobs have been created.

The winners of the competition are:

Garnik Gulkanyan (production of products in the field of beekeeping),
Garnik Hovakimyan (production of products in the field of beekeeping),
Vahe Kirakosyan (honey production),
Vardan Kocharyan (honey production),
Vardges Davtyan (production of vegetables and fruits),
Levon Paronyan (production of various grains),
Gohar Movsisyan (fruit and vegetable production),
Suren Harutyunyan (production of tea and oils),
Harutyun Tashchyan (production of vegetables and fruits),
Ashot Ghazaryan (production of various grains),
Narine Serobyan (production of herbal teas),
Samvel Mkhitaryan (honey production),
Avag Harutyunyan (grape and wine production),
Tevos Sargsyan (production of products in the field of beekeeping),
Nikolay Sarkisyan (processing of honey),
Seyran Aleksanyan (honey production),
Vahan Gevorkyan (potato production),
Agrolog company (production of dried fruits and tea in Armavir and Aragatsotn regions, production of vegetables and fruits in Syunik region).

The annual program "Development of Organic Agriculture 2019-2020" has been jointly implemented by ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK and NABU since 2015. Its goal is to stimulate the development of organic agriculture in Armenia and assist producers in the field. As part of the program, about 50 economic entities, most of which are represented abroad, have been certified for production of organic produces to this day. Every year, with the support of German specialists, a retraining of program for beneficiaries is conducted. The project is being conducted for ACBA-CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK clients.

ACBA was established in 1996 as part of EU’s TACIS program. As a result of a long-term and mutually beneficial cooperation between ACBA Bank and the French Credit Agricole the latter became the biggest shareholder of ACBA in 2006, September. ACBA was restructured, becoming a closed joint stock company and was renamed ACBA CREDIT AGRICOLE BANK.

Founded in 1899, NABU encompasses more than 520,000 members and sponsors, who commit themselves to the conservation of threatened habitats, flora and fauna, to climate protection and energy policy. NABU`s main objectives are the preservation of habitats and biodiversity, the promotion of sustainability in agriculture, forest management and water supply and distribution, as well as to enhance the significance of nature conservation in our society. -0-
