On September 1st Glen Innes hosted the “Lift Off Festival”, a celebration of the power of wind, and it certainly was a windy day!
There were many wind related parts, including kite building and wind sock making.
Much of the music was provided by Armidale’s own musicians including the UNE Recorder Ensemble, the New England Bassoon Quartet, AYWE and Ventus Quintet. All of the groups played beautifully to a small but appreciative audience, despite the efforts of the wind to remove music from stands at inappropriate times! It was a great showcase of some of the talent amongst the wind playing community of Armidale and hopefully will lead to some more musical connections with Glen Innes.
