This exhibition takes a look at the life of Jennie Lee, through some of the materials held in the Jennie Lee Archive collection at The Open University. The exhibition has been created by Amanda Saladine, Senior Archive Assistant.

Jennie Lee was instrumental in the creation of The Open University having been given the task to set it up by the then Prime Minister Harold Wilson in the 1960s. Jennie Lee bequeathed her papers and other materials to The Open University after her death in 1988. The collection covers almost her entire life, from her childhood until her death and includes photographs, diaries, audio recordings and political papers from her time as an MP - first for North Lanark and later for Cannock. There are also documents relating to her personal life and her marriage to Aneurin Bevan.
