"Fixing A Hole" lyrics

"Fixing A Hole"

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
And stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go

I'm filling the cracks that ran through the door
And kept my mind from wandering
Where it will go

And it really doesn't matter if
I'm wrong I'm right
Where I belong I'm right
Where I belong
See the people standing there
Who disagree and never win
And wonder why they don't get in my door

I'm painting the room in a colourful way
And when my mind is wandering
There I will go
Ooh ooh ooh ah ah
Hey, hey, hey, hey

And it really doesn't matter if
I'm wrong I'm right
Where I belong I'm right
Where I belong
Silly people run around
They worry me and never ask me
Why they don't get past my door

I'm taking the time for a number of things
That weren't important yesterday
And I still go
Ooh ooh ooh ah ah

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
Stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go oh
Where it will go oh

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
Stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go
Where it will go

I'm fixing a hole where the rain gets in
Stops my mind from wandering
Where it will go

Writer(s): Paul McCartney, John Lennon
During the recording of this song on the 9th of February 1967 The Beatles used Regent Sound studios in Tottenham Court Road, London, rather than their usual EMI's Abbey Road studios. It happened for the first time because their usual studios were unavailable that day.
Paul McCartney said in 1967 of the song, "It’s really about the fans who hang around outside your door day and night."
Curiously enough is that one fan was present at the studio during the recording of this song. He showed up at Paul McCartney's place and presented himself as Jesus Christ. McCartney was just going to leave for a studio, so he offered to bring him along. McCartney later recalled, "So I said, 'I've got to go to a session but if you promise to be very quiet and just sit in a corner, you can come.' So he did, he came to the session and he did sit very quietly and I never saw him after that."
