The Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation (EPCF) recently conducted its Annual General Meeting for 2019, including the adoption of the audited 2018/19 Financial Statements.

The vision of the Foundation is to provide a lasting legacy for future generations on the Eyre Peninsula.

EPCF Chair Majella Mrdjen said “We continue to undertake philanthropic activities including building the community endowment, providing grants, and growing our corpus”. She also thanked the volunteers of the Book Bazaar for their generous donation of time and effort. Profits from the Book Bazaar support the Home Hospice service and the Foundation.

Total funds under management at the end of the financial year were $562,038. Other financial highlights:

  • Home Hospice Service expenses came to $59,822, reflecting the popularity and importance of the service which has supported many families. The EPCF funds the Home Hospice, with Matthew Flinders Home providing the clinical services.
  • Grants to community groups, along with three tertiary scholarships, came to $18,045.
  • Given the challenging investment environment, the Board engaged a licenced Financial Advisor to assist with preparation of an updated investment strategy. That strategy has been implemented in the 2019/20 financial year.

The opportunity was taken at the AGM to present grants to a number of community groups who had been successful in the Foundation’s 2019 grants round. Representatives of the Port Neill Bowling Club, Riding for the Disabled Port Lincoln, Kirton Point Children’s Centre, Lincoln Alive and Port Lincoln RSL all attended and received grants. Other organisations to receive grants this year included Arno Bay Community Sporting Association, Streaky Bay Men’s Shed and Yaninee Sports Club.
