Warren, MI. No one seems to know the origins of the old saying, “Bloom where you are planted”, although some say it may come from Genesis 1:28, “Be fertile and multiply; fill the earth and subdue it.” St. Francis de Sales once said, “Truly charity has no limit; for the love of God has been poured into our hearts by His Spirit dwelling in each one of us, calling us to a life of devotion and inviting us to bloom in the garden where He has planted and directing us to radiate the beauty and spread the fragrance or His Providence.” Wherever the saying originated, the wisdom behind it is undeniable. Today’s story features an evangelist that, although housebound, is able to pray with and share the gospel with others.

The following report comes to us from Br. John and our Society of Evangelists in Warren, MI:

At SPSE national headquarters we send and receive a good amount of mail, mainly from our online store. Our letter carriers cycle regularly from week to week and stop by at different times, but this week I happened to be in the office several times to greet our letter carrier, “Mark”. The first time I said hello and asked how he was doing. I thanked him for the job he was doing for us and if he needed prayer for anything. He said sure I could always use prayer!” So we prayed for his family, health, and job safety.

The next day I saw him again but only for a moment, resolving to share Jesus with him more if there was a next time. The following day we greeted each other again, but this time I had some fresh baked cookies from our office manager, Cindy, waiting on the table and offered some to him. He gladly accepted it and so I also offered the delicious salmon patty Cindy made for lunch. As I packed it up for him I asked about the church he goes to and what his relationship with God was like. I asked if I could pray for him to have an even stronger relationship with Our Lord. After a brief prayer he said he felt a presence over his heart that he couldn’t explain. I said it is not uncommon and I believed it was the Holy Spirit prompting him to grow closer to Jesus. We joyfully talked a little more and I gave him my contact info for any prayer, faith questions, or just to talk. We blessed each other and he went back on the road in his mail truck.

Praised be Jesus Christ!
