Bride of the Traitor (The Prophecy of Sisters Book 1) Kindle Edition

4.2 out of 5 stars 174 ratings

Sybilla Collins knows nothing of prophecies. She keeps her head down as she goes through her mundane life in Portland, Oregon.

Her world is shaken when she wakes up in a dank, dark dungeon of what she believes is someone who takes cosplay a little too seriously. She is convinced she’s been kidnapped from her bed.

When her eyes land on the man she believes has kidnapped her, something happens inside of her. His scarred face should be frightening. Except she can only think of one thing—his touch, she needs it like she needs her next breath.

King Elias Wainwright is now the fateful king of Bunafi. A title he never wished to have, born to a man he’s always despised, a man who was a traitor. The former king is dead. Elias’ sense of duty is now the only reason he sits on the throne.

Sent to fulfill an ancient prophecy of a parallel universe, Elias and Sybilla must find their true heart’s love, or risk the ruin of the world. Knights, magic, gods, and goddesses are what make up this strange new land.

Choices must be made, walls must be broken down, and two people who guard themselves must allow themselves to be vulnerable and find love to fulfill the prophecy or risk certain ruin of an entire world.

Born and raised in the Central Valley in California. My husband and I moved to Oregon while he was in the US Coast Guard and then to Texas for ten years before recently relocating to North Carolina. For me this was an epic read. I had no clue when I bought this book just how different it would be from her previous work. I had felt that her entire reason for genius was the world of mafia. Boy was I wrong. I can say that this one book has changed my mind. Hayley Faiman is indeed a genius. A genius of anything she wishes to write about. I will admit I was reluctant buying this book because of her other areas of greatness. I am beyond glad I gave this book a chance because I need book two and I need it now! Not tomorrow or the next day but now please. From start to finish this book was a wild ride. A ride of passion, of this new strange land, of areas seeing similar to the middle ages but then not, of men who dominate, and essentially love. Fate did play a role but these two people needed to fall in love to initiate the series. I read this book obsessively for two days and at the end I love that we still have to find out about this child born and where this next sister is. It ended at an interesting point for me and at first I had to think if I was happy not knowing how our couple finished the HEA. When I was able to thoroughly able to enjoy how this book ended was to have this short story included. Sheer genius. More please! denise bailey

This one was unexpected. And I liked that a lot. However there was a little bit of a pacing issue in the Begining that bothered me and our leading lady had some issues with consistency then as well. That does get wrapped up though and in the end I was down for this ride. I did wish some things were more explained, given more page time, but other all I’m invested and Wanna contribute on in the series.

This was some out of this world kind of love story!! I used to love historical romance, but sort of strayed away from it in the last few years. This book really reminded me why I loved that genre so much. With that being said, this is not pure historical romance, it also has a lot of fantasy elements. “That” I have never been into, but I loved it so much!!! You want time travel? You got it! You want time travel to a parallel universe where you may or may not get a flying horse talking to you? You got that too! You want a badass, Viking like hero? Check! Badass heroine who goes from talking on her cellphone in present times to waking up in a stone castle back in unknown times? Double check! There’s a love story at the center of this book for sure, a great one at that, but there is so much of the back story that I enjoyed as well, the secondary characters were so interesting and well developed. This was such an awesome surprise from Hayley Faiman, and I am looking forward to the next book in the series.

I really didnt think I would like this book, as a matter of fact, I'm a instant one click as soon as Hayley has a new release. This one though, took me a week or so to finally try. I was NOT disappointed! It amazes me the depths of her imagination, I felt like I was reading something close to Outlander, it has that kind of vibe. There is mention of purple grass, and elephant type birds, but it isnt obnoxious. There is a flying horse that speaks telepathically, but it only adds to the magical theme within the story, so it isnt out of the blue or silly. Take a chance on this book, you wont be sad that you did, I honestly cannot wait for the next book in the series!!

Hayley Faiman is one of my favorite authors. I love her MC and Bravta series. When she announced that she was going to be writing something different I was soooo excited. Normally, I don't stray far from my usual books and this book was completely out of my comfort zone. However, I knew that if anyone could make me fall in love with this type of book it would be Mrs. Faiman. And I was right because I'm in love with Elias and Sybilla. I'm in love with this new world and I can't wait to read the next one!!! Take a chance! Read the book and explore this new world!

I have read and loved all of Hayley's books, but this one I couldn't put down. She really has a great imagination. Purple grass, flying horses, witches and much, much more. This book grabs you and takes you away to this magical place. Sybilla and King Elias fall in love, and its is so beautiful of a romance. Please read this book. It takes you away from what we all are going through right now.

I love the world created in this story and the connection that you feel between Liv and Aaric. This is a fun read and I very much enjoyed all the side characters. I especially loved Hillevi and Quest and was happy to see a short story about them at the end of this book.

That being said, I had a rough time with the 4 stars and was very close to 3 instead. There were a few things that I found frustrating. The first is that there were two characters towards the end that die off page. This felt completely wrong and rushed. One of the two had a lot of page time so to have him killed off page didn't feel right. Another issue I had was with his sister Sylvi. At one point, Aaric and Liv need to travel and he struggles with who to leave in charge in his stead. Liv suggests Sylvi and then Aaric agrees. It doesn't work for me. Sylvi never came across before as being interested in how things run, nor did it seem she was involved in any way with this. So how does suggesting her making sense? It's written as though she was overlooked simply because she was his younger sister and as such he overlooked her skills, but I never saw those skills previously so this really didn't work for me.

I love Hayley's books - I'm a huge fan. She writes of messy relationships that are raw and many of her books contain cheating and thoughts by the mail heroes that you don't typically see. However, in this book, I felt there was a lack of redemption, circling back that needed to happen. You have a scene towards the end where I thought we were going to see evidence of his growth and it didn't happen.

Love this fantasy tale, a woman finds herself in a fantastical medieval world. Blue leaf trees, shimmering snow followed by purple grass. I want to be transported to this place!
She meets the King and an old prophecy is revealed, along with witches, goddesses and magic.
Very different book for this author but still contains her great story telling skills, hot steamy apha males and loads of chemistry.

2.0 out of 5 stars Had potential but ended up 1 s*x scene after another

Firstly I was not given a free book to read, I made the mistake of buying this because I loved Hailey Faimans Russian Bratva series and bought them all. But I made a huge mistake in paying for this book.

The whole idea behind the series had lots of potential, I was hoping for the building of a whole new world as in Zoey Dravens Horde Kings series. But unfortunately this did not occur. We are told this is a medieval world, but are told nothing about the social structure, how people lived, dressed, the foods they ate etc. Once the h became Queen she was said to visit children and the sick/elderly in their homes, but that is all we were told. No details were given, we are just told she carried out her duties. The opportunity was missed to describe what she found during these visits. Did anything concern her? Or was she truly so selfish that the only thing we are told that worried her was her relationship with the H.

So what will you find in this new world. First you will be told that all the men are “hot”, the rich powerful ones anyway. You will also have described, several times during the first 50% of the book, how the h is in clothing that belonged to someone smaller than her, so that upper parts of her anatomy almost hang out. You will also read that in the bedroom (a lot of chapters are spent describing activities there) that the H/h have a D/s relationship. There were loads of repetitive s*x scenes, sometimes 2 or 3 per chapter, so much so I began to skip read through large sections. By the time I had got through 60% of the book I was so bored that I gave up.

So my advice is, if you really want to try this series, borrow the book through KU, do not spend your well earned cash on it, in my opinion it’s not worth it.

I read this following a recommendation from a friend. It was fantastic. Well thought out plot, plenty of character development and moments I wanted to punch the hero in the face. Can’t wait for book 2
