“Every restriction allows creating new opportunities – we do not want to risk the health of residents of Vilnius, so this year, unfortunately, we have to fence sakura, but their view will now come to every home online. Selfies with sakura will be a little different this year,” says Remigijus Šimašius, the Mayor of Vilnius.
A 4K resolution camera that transmits images via Telia’s 4G LTE mobile network was installed next to the sakura, which is a four times higher resolution than the standard Full HD that the majority of us is accustomed to.
“During quarantine, communication technologies allow us to keep our daily lives as normal as possible – many of us work from home, study remotely, communicate, exercise and even attend museums or performances. Therefore, we cannot miss yet another very important event in Vilnius – the blooming of sakura”, Dan Strömberg, CEO of Telia, says.
Live broadcast of sakura will be available not only on the website karantinas.lt, but also on Facebook group #susijungiam and in Delfi section #susijungiam. Having turned on the zero channel on Telia TV, blooming sakura will also be broadcasted on TV screens.
The sakura park will be broadcasted online at www.karantinas.lt/sakuros 24/7 till they stop blooming.
