Twenty lung ventilators were flown from Turkey to Lithuania on Friday after Ankara lifted export restrictions on medical supplies.
The shipment for Lithuania was blocked in March, which led to diplomatic efforts by Vilnius officials. The shipment was finally given the go-ahead after Ankara lifted the export restrictions on May 2.
“We understand Turkey's position in the wake of the coronavirus, as many countries in the world, including Lithuania, have introduced restrictions on exporting medical supplies," Rasa Jakilaitiene, spokeswoman for the Lithuanian foreign minister, previously told BNS.

The ventilators, ordered by a Lithuanian company Limeta from a Turkish manufacturer, will be transferred to medical establishments in the Lithuanian towns of Kretinga, Jonava and Elektrėnai.
Artificial lung ventilators, which cost several thousand euros, are used to help patients with severe Covid-19 symptoms.
