IIAC WORKING GROUP ON PROPOSED PERMANENT REGULATORY CHANGES RESULTING FROM COVID-19 EXPERIENCE
The COVID-19 pandemic has required firms and regulators to adapt their operations to accommodate the new remote work environment. These adaptations have affected many aspects of business, including client interaction, front and back office operations, regulatory compliance and communication. Regulators have been helpful, recognizing the challenges, and granting exemptive relief to make this transition possible. As the pandemic continues, and firms settle into this new operating environment, it has become apparent that many of the operational changes forced upon the industry present opportunities for flexibility, efficiency and other long term benefits for firms, their staff, clients and other industry participants.
The IIAC is forming a working group to identify regulatory and operational changes that would benefit the industry and clients on a permanent basis, with a view to transforming the regulatory environment to allow for more flexibility to accommodate what is likely to become the future of doing business during, and post pandemic.
