NDI poll: 82% of Georgians support EU, 74%- NATO membership

Poll results released today by the National Democratic Institute (NDI) show that 82 percent of Georgians approve joining the EU, while 74 percent of those surveyed approve the Georgian government’s stated goal of joining NATO.

Compared to the previous survey of the NDI held between July 13-29, 2019, the amount of supporters of Georgia’s membership in the EU has increased by four percent.

As for NATO, when asked whether the respondents approve or disapprove of Georgian government’s stated goal to join NATO, 74 percent of them answered that they approve, 14 percent disapprove and 11 percent answered that they didn’t know.

The results reflect data collected from November 19 - December 13, 2019, through 2,180 face-to-face interviews around Georgia, excluding the occupied territories.

NDI’s survey work is funded by UK Aid and was carried out by the Caucasus Research Resource Centre (CRRC) Georgia.
