While coronavirus restrictions limit travelling abroad, Lithuania’s capital brings foreign experiences directly to its residents.

Every second summer weekend, Vilnius will ‘turn’ into a different country by offering hundreds of events and concerts showcasing its culture, according to AFP.

Last weekend, people were invited to enjoy “Italian holidays in Vilnius”.

The Lithuanian capital’s Old Town was filled with Italian music and flags, with local restaurants offering Mediterranean dishes.

In the Town Hall Square, a collection of iconic Italian Vespa scooters and Alfa Romeo cars was on display, while the Užupis district hosted a Venice Carnival.

In the weeks to come, Lithuanians will also be able to ‘visit’ France, Spain, Germany, India, Japan, and the US without leaving their home country.

The events are organised by Go Vilnius, the capital's promotion and development agency, as well as the municipality.
