The successful partnership between the Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation (The Foundation) and Matthew Flinders Home (MFH) supporting the Eyre Peninsula Home Hospice Service (EPHHS) will continue with the recent extension of their Memorandum of Understanding.

In cooperation with the Port Lincoln Health Services Palliative Care Team who provide daytime care during the week , the Eyre Peninsula Home Hospice Service provides out of hours and weekend end of life care for community members wishing to remain in their own homes for their last few weeks ensuring 24hour care is provided at this challenging time.

Martha Rowe, Matthew Flinders Home EO stated “This is a unique and vital service for members of our community and without the  continued support of the partnerships it would not be possible”.

Since 2017 this service has assisted over 39 families.

The Foundation Board manages the funds and donations received, whilst Matthew Flinders Home coordinates the operational requirements of the service, with a team of associated professionals and volunteers.

The Foundation was also delighted to receive a recent donation of $10,000 for the EPHHS from a local community member.  Foundation Chairperson, Garry Downey stated, “Ongoing community support will be essential in ensuring families continue to have a choice for end of life care into the future”.

Ongoing fundraising and support is needed for this service to continue. The Book Bazaar Charity Bookshop in Port Lincoln has just celebrated its 7th year with its profits both supporting the service and other needs on the Eyre Peninsula. If you would like to make a tax-deductible donation to assist the service to continue please contact the Foundation on 0400 685 520 or admin@epcf.com.au
