Gradual airlines’ return to flying is not limited to only restoring same routes. For some carriers now is also the time of new opportunities and beneficial partnerships. One of the latest examples is a codeshare partnership between Icelandair and airBaltic.

Through this agreement, both airlines, not belonging to any major airline alliances, expect to secure its passengers with a broader range of destinations.

For airBaltic, it is an unlocked door to attractive destinations in Iceland and transatlantic connections to North America.

“We are pleased to add Icelandair as another strong partner to our existing network of codeshare airlines (…) to further improve the connectivity of Baltic states,” commented Martin Gauss, President and CEO of airBaltic.

For Icelandair, in turn, it is a chance to explore the Latvian carrier’s destinations in the Baltics and Eastern Europe.

“In addition, travellers will be able to benefit from a stopover in Iceland where they can experience our home country on their way to their final destination,” said Bogi Nils Bogason, President & CEO Icelandair Group.
