Take action to prevent the spread of coronavirus in Swindon View in browser
Update on Swindon's coronavirus situation from Steve Maddern, Director of Public Health

It’s only through the collective and individual responsibility of everyone in the community that we can prevent the spread of coronavirus across the borough.

While it is still the case that we are not seeing a community spread of the disease in Swindon, the recent local outbreaks serve as a stark reminder that it’s up to all of us to keeping taking the prevention measures that will keep us all safe.

Swindon remains on the Government’s ‘areas of concern’ watchlist, based on the infection rate and number of confirmed cases for the week 03-09 August. This week the Council and partners have delivered around 7,000 letters in the SN1 and SN2 postcodes of Swindon, to reinforce the standard prevention measures that each of us must take. This was informed by the latest data showing that a high proportion of new confirmed COVID-19 cases are amongst residents living in this area.

For the added convenience of residents, a new mobile testing unit has been set up at the Country Ground and will be there throughout next week. If you are displaying even mild symptoms of COVID-19, please book a free test immediately through the NHS portal or by calling 119.

Earlier this week we launched a new borough-wide campaign with the message 'Swindon: It's up to all of us' - each and every one of us must play our part to contain the virus and avoid the prospect of future local restrictions. Please help us by sharing these messages with your friends, family and within your wider community.

Containing COVID-19 is up to all of us. Thank you for doing your bit.
