Time to act on structural reform
My July 29 column “Closing the circle to benefit investors” published in Investment Executive, provoked interesting and reflective commentary on SRO consolidation. There were several direct responses published the following week, including president of Kenmar Associates, Ken Kivenko’s Letter: SROs at a crossroads, as well as capital markets consultant and special advisor to FAIR Canada, John Carson’s Letter: What’s the rush to merge IIROC and MFDA?
I am glad to hear and engage with these other opinions as they contribute to the eventual consolidation process. My published response, Time to act on structural reform outlines how my column was not proposing a “quick-fix” solution but rather a plea to stop the prevarication and finally get structural reform — which has been nearly 20 years in the making — underway.
Robust conversations within our community such as these exchanges, are a wonderful way to effect change.
