Florida State develops COVID-19 training for faculty and staff

The health and safety of the Florida State University community is the university’s top priority as it works to combat the threat of COVID-19.

Now, the Office of Human Resources has developed a comprehensive training to prepare employees for what to expect amid the COVID-19 pandemic.

“The Stay Healthy FSU: COVID-19 Training for Faculty and Staff guidance serves as a resource that employees can reference for information on university COVID-19 policies and protocols,” said Renisha Gibbs, associate vice president for Human Resources and Finance and Administration chief of staff. “By exercising personal responsibility, spreading awareness and staying informed, we can all help keep FSUs campus safe.”

The training features information on how COVID-19 spreads, what symptoms to watch out for and how to prepare with prevention and proper response strategies.

Faculty and staff are strongly encouraged to take this trainingwhether they remain working remotely or plan to return to campus. Due to the dynamic nature of the pandemic, information will be updated as new data is published and as policies and procedures are amended.

While not intended to replace guidance from medical professionals, the information outlined in the training comes from a variety of trusted public health sources and local, state and federal authorities including the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), the Florida Department of Health, Florida Board of Governors and FSU’s Emergency Management and Environmental Health & Safety departments.
