FSU Homecoming rescheduled for Spring 2021

The Florida State University Alumni Association has announced that Homecoming — originally scheduled for the week of Nov. 9-14, 2020 — will be postponed. Events are currently being planned for spring 2021.

Since the beginning of the coronavirus pandemic, the top priority of Florida State and the Alumni Association has been, and continues to be, the health of its alumni, students, staff and faculty. Over the past few months, administrators have developed guidelines that provide a healthier and safer campus environment, including limitations on large gatheringsIn order to mitigate the spread of COVID-19, the difficult decision was made to postpone this year’s Homecoming events.

Wknow that we cannot safely gather for Homecoming in the traditional sense this fall and we do not want to do Homecoming without you — all of you,” said FSU Alumni Association President and CEO Julie Decker. “There is nothing like being together with fellow Seminoles, recounting our FSU days and fondest memories. Those times will come again, and the Alumni Association will be ready to welcome you back to campus when it is safe and when you feel comfortable.”

Homecoming is a longstanding university tradition where alumni and friends return for a week of festivities that include alumni events, a street parade and a home football game. The spring 2021 lineup will include many of the traditional events, including the:

  • Homecoming Paradeorganized by the Student Alumni Association
  • Emeritus Alumni Society Reunion Honoring the Class of 1970
  • Homecoming Chief and Princess unveiling

“Homecoming is one of Florida State’s most cherished traditions,” said FSU President John Thrasher. “Although we won’t be able to gather this fall, we hope to welcome friends and alumni back to campus and celebrate everything we love about FSU with students, faculty and staff this spring — one of the most beautiful times of year in Tallahassee.”

The specific dates for Homecoming will be announced at a later time.

While the Alumni Association will not host any in-person events through the remainder of 2020, both on campus and within FSU alumni communities worldwide, they are offering over 20 exciting virtual events throughout the next four months. This fall, programming includes the 69th Annual Kickoff Luncheon presented virtuallywebinars featuring alumni speakers, mixology nights, networking and more.
