Product description
Review
'Aegean sun and sea and perfect fisherman's soup. A delicious evocation of place and memory from one of my favourite cooks.' ― Allan Jenkins, Editor of Observer Food Monthly
'What a fantastic book! The generous Cretan sun shines from every page, this book is so much more than a cookbook, it's a love song to a very special place and its delicious culture, and we are lucky to have the brilliant Marianna as our guide to this magical island.' ― Itamar Srulovich, co-founder of Honey & Co.

This is a celebration of simple, honest flavours that to me typify Cretan food. The Mountains, Land and of course being a fisherman's daughter the Sea all get solid representation. I love Marianna's straight forward approach to her recipes. The personal stories dotted about sharing her culinary journey make this more than a recipe book.
It didn't take long to ear-mark several recipes I want to try. "Beef Cheeks with Potatoes," "Prawns with Ouzo, Orzo and Courgette," "Tomato and Oregano Fritters with whipped Feta" as well as some classics "Lamb Cutlets with Lemon and Oregano," "Stuffed Vine Leaves," "Cretan Summer Salad," and the beautiful "Kakavia," a one pot fish stew, just to name a few. Honestly, I would've bought the book for the Orange and Broken Filo Pastry Pie alone (if you've not had it, it's a revelation).
Travel itself may be limited this summer but I've found a delicious alternative to explore Crete this summer.
The food is bright, unpretentious and delicious, just like her!
Well done darling, it's wonderful x
