Newsletter 2020 #3
Web online Workshops

In these somewhat strange times, Shelyak's activity is at full speed. Unfortunately, several meetings were cancelled, due to the current crisis (Spectro Star Party OHP 2020, RCE, etc.), but the communication tools available make it possible to keep in contact with you - and this is essential! You will therefore find below proposals for interactive workshops to be held in the coming weeks. And if you have needs that are not fulfilled by these proposals, do not hesitate to suggest ideas for other workshops. You will also find the invitation to participate (online) to the ASW 2020 meeting - organized in the United States by AAVSO, in which we are strongly involved: a great opportunity to get in touch with the international community. I strongly encourage you to register.

Kind regards,

How to tune your LHIRES III ?

By François Cochard

Workshop in English only🇬🇧

By François Cochard and Nicolas Durand

This practical workshop will cover all the settings of a Lhires III spectroscope. When doing spectroscopy, it is important to deeply understand the instrument, to fully understand the data it produces. This is a great opportunity to "open the box"... and explore the secrets of the Lhires III. Come with your questions!

Spectro-photometry of exoplanets

By Jean-Christophe DALOUZY

Workshop in French only 🇫🇷

Jean-Christophe has made some very beautiful observations with a single Star Analyzer. He thus shows that beyond the equipment, this is the process that is important, and the methodology that accompanies it. A magnificent experimentation which shows how spectroscopy is full of potential.

Online Spectrosopy workshop (ASW2020)

Workshop in English only🇬🇧

In February 2019, we had the chance to participate actively at a magnificent meeting at the New Mexico (US), organized by Ken Hudson and Joe Daglen (SMSW-2).  It was clear to all participants that this type of meeting had to be repeated regularly, and the 2020 edition was scheduled for November in Boston, thanks to AAVSO (American Association of Variable Star Observers). Current sanitary conditions prevented the meeting from being held as expected but we have decided to maintain this meeting in a « digital » format. It’s a unique opportunity to participate in a nice worldwide meeting. It is also the best way to measure how much our discipline takes all its value when it is practiced internationally!

We'll take about Science and Technics, and of course beginners are welcome.

Four days of online spectroscopy workshop organised by the AAVSO.
