BANK OF CANADA, GOVERNMENT OF CANADA (GOC) MARKET FUNCTIONING STEERING GROUP INFORMATION SESSION FOR IIAC MEMBERS
Monday, November 2 | 3:00 pm EST
The Bank of Canada will be holding an information session (video conference call) for IIAC members on the progress made to-date by the GoC Market Functioning Steering Group. The Steering Group is studying a framework for supporting GoC market functioning in a low-rate environment and investigating potential mechanisms that provide financial incentives for the timely settlement of GoC trades (such as a fail fee) and that can be applied consistently across the full range of market participants. Bank of Canada analysis suggests that Canadian financial markets can generally function at low rates, but additional measures may be needed to support GoC repo market and cash trading settlement functioning.
If you would like to attend the information session on November 2 (3:00 pm EST) please RSVP by email to Maria Nash (mnash@iiac.ca) and Todd Evans (tevans@iiac.ca) using GMF Information Session in the subject line. A video conference call link will be provided prior to the meeting.
