What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:
•Using your expertise in the field of geotechnical engineering and pavement design, you will:
• provide engineering services for highway projects
• monitor and review consultant work
• participate in design review meetings
• conduct design assessments and warranty inspections
• prepare technical reports
• provide geotechnical engineering information, advice and services

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You are a Professional Engineer, licensed with Professional Engineers Ontario (PEO)
• The position requires the successful candidate to have a valid class G driver's licence or equivalent. The offer of employment is conditional upon the successful candidate providing proof that s/he has a valid driver's licence upon being hired.

Technical Knowledge and Skills:

• You have extensive knowledge of the theories, principles and practices of geotechnical engineering, pavement evaluation, pavement design and related engineering materials.
• You have demonstrated experience with design, construction and maintenance of highways.
• You have sound knowledge and skills implementing engineering, technical and administrative policies, procedures, standards, specifications and regulations.
• You have working knowledge of quality assurance, estimating and budgeting.
•You have knowledge of environmental issues related to highway engineering.

Project Management, Analytical and Computer Skills:

• You have skills and knowledge in project management and consultant acquisition and administration procedures.
• You have sound analytical, decision making, judgment and organizational skills.
• You have excellent computer skills working with a variety of word processing and spreadsheet software.

Communication and Interpersonal Skills:

• You can communicate effectively (both orally and written) and can prepare and deliver presentations.
• You can build and maintain effective working relationships.
• You are able to effectively negotiate options.
