“I can hear the phone, I can hear it ring. I can hear my heart saying don’t, don’t answer. I’d rather run away to the light instead of living in your dark on my own like a lonely dancer. Catch my breath for a minute, God knows I’ve been down this road before. I don’t wanna feel, I don’t wanna fall, I don’t wanna love you. I don’t wanna break every time you call.” – lyrics

‘I Don’t Wanna Love You’ tells a heartfelt tale about a young woman who shares a challenging relationship with her significant other. Apparently, she no longer wants to be in love with her companion, who oftentimes apologizes with lies and deceit. What she wants is to break free from their troublesome union. But in order to do so, she must keep her distance.

‘I Don’t Wanna Love You’ contains a relationship-based narrative, ear-welcoming vocals, and tuneful melodies that are certain to pull at your heartstrings. Also, the likable tune possesses jazzy instrumentation flavored with contemporary R&B and neo-soul elements. Furthermore, “I Don’t Wanna Love You” serves as a fantastic introduction of what listeners can expect to hear on Tristan McIntosh’s upcoming debut EP. The anticipated project will feature eight songs, all but one co-written by Tristan and Jamie Houston.

“This single is so important for me because it shows people the journey I’ve gone through musically in the past four years.” – Tristan McIntosh stated

As a child growing up, Tristan McIntosh was influenced by her father’s ‘70s record collection that gave direction for how she saw love, loss, and life. Exposure to trendsetters like Bonnie Raitt, The Beatles, and Alicia Keys meant that Tristan never saw music as a cookie-cutter box, but rather an infinity pool with immeasurable depth. At the age of eight, she moved to the outskirts of Nashville, Tennessee, with her military family. During that time, she added country music to her repertoire, a genre she heavily covered during her American Idol appearances. Since then, Tristan has been sharing her message of heartbreak and healing with the world.
