Community COVID Update

My summary of the Mecklenburg Public Health Director's update to County Commissioners on Tuesday is here. Some highlights:  

-The COVID Ambassador program is very active with 1,783 compliance inspections so far to help businesses with guidance for COVID safety.

-Two vaccine manufacturers have sought emergency-use authorization. If approved, the first shipments are expected to arrive in North Carolina in mid to late December. Protocols are being developed for the priority for distribution. 

-There is a free flu vaccine event on 12/4 and 12/18 at the Southeast Health Dept., 249 Billingsley Road, from 10-2pm. 

-The COVID and flu hotline is 980-314-9400.

Low-Income Energy Assistance Program

This is a program that provides a one-time payment to help people who are age 60 or older or disabled and receiving services through the Division of Aging and Adult Services to pay their heating bills.
