Greta Ranonytė, head of Fintech Hub LT in the latest Verslo žinios article! Lithuania maintains its position as the fintech leader in the EU. Last year, despite all the tensions, revenues grew by up to a third and the amount of payments processed reached a record €114 billion. Our success has inspired our neighbours - the Poles have been vocal about their desire to take up the banner of Europe's fintech hub, while the Latvians and Estonians have outlined a similar strategy. It is time for some serious thinking. Despite the geopolitical uncertainty, the fintech sector in Lithuania continues its growth trajectory. Data from the Bank of Lithuania shows that in 2023, revenues from EMI/PI licensed activities increased by almost a third to almost EUR 495 million, while the amount of payment transactions grew by around 10% to EUR 114 billion. The total amount of customer funds held by EMI/PIs reached almost EUR 2 bn. The largest EMI/PIs in terms of turnover are the members of Fintech Hub LT: Paysera, ZEN.COM, ConnectPay, Nuvei, Phoenix Payments, Genome. The Lithuanian fintech sector remains one of the most dynamic in Europe, demonstrating not only resilience to challenges, but also continuous growth. 2023 was a memorable year for our country's fintech ecosystem, with the number of fintech companies increasing to 270 and their services reaching more than 27 million customers across Europe. The number of people employed in the sector rose to 7,400 and, according to the latest statistics, companies' total profits increased by 18% compared to the previous year.
