Joseph Bakish, director of wealth management, portfolio manager and investment advisor at Richardson Wealth in Montreal, has won the Investment Industry Association of Canada’s (IIAC) Top Under 40 Award for 2020.

Bakish, who has been nominated for the Top Under 40 award every year since 2017, was this year selected from among 32 nominees. He specializes in working with physicians and holds the Chartered Financial Analyst, Chartered Life Underwriter, Certified Financial Planner and Certified Health Insurance Specialist designations.

“The IIAC Top Under 40 Award is bestowed upon an individual who has shown tremendous achievement in their career, and who is a proven leader and a credit to the investment industry,” said Ian Russell, president and CEO of the IIAC, in a release.

Bakish works with his brother, Nick, as part of Bakish Wealth Management at Richardson Wealth, where the team works with doctors, lawyers, researchers, professors, small business owners and families in Montreal and Ottawa. According to the practice’s website, “Nick generates big ideas and Joe turns them into reality.”

The finalists for this year’s award were Anna Hilberry, associate wealth management advisor at The Hilberry Group (part of National Bank Financial Wealth Management) in Duncan, B.C., and Kate Murdoch, investment advisor and financial planner at Ridd & Associates Wealth Advisory Group (part of BMO Nesbitt Burns) in Newmarket, Ont.
