Today, marking the halfway point in our Future Travel Narrative series, we are excited to launch the story "Carbon Neutral Pods." This narrative came from workshops hosted at the BlueEarthSummit which Traveltech for Scotland attended in 2022, encouraging a specific focus on how travel can be re-imagined to reduce its impact on the planet. This story explores a shift from holidaying abroad to local, more sustainable options that are not so costly for the planet. 🌍 Key themes explored: 1. Carbon-neutral travel 2. Government subsidised "green" travel 3. Local holiday-ing and personal connections valued over long distance travel. Today we are introducing our seventh Future Travel Narrative series: "Frictionless/Frictional Travel." Coming from a Data and Design Lab which took place at The University of Edinburgh at the end of 2021, this story explores a somewhat distopian future in which life choices are rewarded/penalised according to their ecological impact based on a sophisticated 'scoring' system. Some other ideas explored in this narrative: 1. Working with oil becoming a societal taboo 2. Social/familial relations impacted by individual ecological choices 3. Carbon consumption thresholds as guiding everyday decisions and actions Read the story here! https://lnkd.in/eevCkncC #traveltech #futureoftourism 'Scottish Stornaway Stay' was illustrated by Cat O'Neil and written by Máire Ryan
