Child and Parent Resource Institute (CPRI) provides trauma-informed and highly specialized services for children and youth of Ontario who experience complex and long-standing combinations of mental health difficulties and/or developmental challenges, and where these difficulties significantly impact functioning in multiple areas, such as home, school and community, and appropriate community interventions have not produced the desired response. CPRI provides services that are based on a partnership model with community service providers. Our services include Assessment, Consultation, Treatment, Research and Education in both outpatient and inpatient services.

CPRI is seeking a Clinical Nurse Advisor with strong leadership skills to provide program oversight and expertise in clinical, infection prevention and medication management of nursing and health services. Your work will support and influence decision making in the care of vulnerable children and youth in service at CPRI.

Please Note: Due to the oversight and leadership responsibilities of the role, the Clinical Nurse Advisor may need to attend the workplace outside of normal business hours on occasion.

What can I expect to do in this role?

In this role, you will:

• Lead a team of nurses in the planning, development, delivery and evaluation of care for children and youth with complex medical and developmental needs
• Provide professional expertise in the interpretation, development, implementation and evaluation of health protection strategies, policies and programs in accordance with regulatory and residential licensing requirements
• Provide specialized expertise in vaccine preventable disease prevention, control and immunization, emergency management, pandemic planning and execution services
• Provide consultation on the clinical aspects of service planning and delivery
• Develop, implement and deliver health care service education and training programs
• Conduct research and analysis, and provide evidence-based information to support decision making
• Oversee data collection for health care program reporting

How do I qualify?

Mandatory

• You are a Registered Nurse in good standing with the College of Nurses of Ontario

Specialized Knowledge and Skills

• You have knowledge of nursing administration methods, techniques and practices, and key stakeholders/providers in health care services delivery
• You have knowledge of residential and outpatient program and service delivery
• You have knowledge of professional and best standards and guidelines, nursing theories, practices and relevant legislation
• You have knowledge of and experience working with clients with complex physical, developmental and behavioural needs

Leadership and Relationship Management Skills

• You can provide leadership and program oversight in clinical, infection prevention and medication management of nursing and health services
• You can manage and sustain relationships with a wide range and level of stakeholders

Consultation, Communication and Presentation Skills

• You can provide clinical advice, expertise and consultation, and influence policy and program delivery in health care services
• You can prepare and deliver training and education materials to care providers and ministry staff
• You can prepare and present technical reports and analyses

Problem Solving, Research, Risk Assessment and Critical Analysis Skills

• You can conduct research and analysis, evaluate a range of factors influencing health services planning and delivery, and provide evidence-based information to support decision making
• You can identify, analyze, and advise on clinical issues, assess risks and impacts, develop strategies and make sound recommendations
