Dear Roger,
You’ve probably heard this verse: “For everything there is a season, and a time for every matter under heaven” (Eccles. 3:1). Well, what sort of a season is Lent? It can be a sobering, reflective season, certainly, but it is also a season of great anticipation and hope!
I feel this Lent has arrived just at the right moment: Truly there’s never been a more vital time than this Lenten season to look forward to the new world you’re helping our movement build! The road is long, but your support fills our journey with hope.
We use the season of Lent to prepare ourselves for Easter, when Christ changed the world with his resurrection. This Lent, you too can help change the world, by joining GCCM as we ask ourselves how we want to rebuild after the pandemic. Humanity has a chance to be better shepherds of God’s creation by rebuilding our lives, our communities, and our countries in more just and sustainable ways.
As you will see in our Lenten calendar, you are encouraged weekly to reflect, repent, renew, and connect with others in the community during the season. We will have five weekly mini-fasts to reduce our ecological footprint and reflect on our relationship with God and all of creation.
