The Chief Prosecutor's Office of Georgia addressed the parliament with a request to file a petition to the court to change the bail imposed on Nika Melia as a measure of restraint with a stricter measure of restraint - the imprisonment.

This is stated in an official statement from the Prosecutor's Office.

"To ensure the purposes of the measure of restraint provided by the Criminal Procedure Code, the Prosecutor General of Georgia, in accordance with the requirements of the Constitution and the Rules of the Parliament, has asked the Parliament of Georgia for consent to change the measure of restraint for Nikanor Melia.

If consent is obtained, the prosecution will ask the court to change the preventive measure against the accused Nikanor Melia - the bail, with a harsher measure of restraint - the deprivation of freedom," - reads the statement.

Recall that Nika Melia has so far refused to pay the bail in the amount of GEL 40,000 and the term for payment expires today, February 12, at 6:00 pm.
