Three Florida State student-athletes were honored as 2021 ACC Postgraduate Scholars, it was announced Wednesday.

Four-time ACC hurdles champion Trey Cunningham, football defensive end Joshua Kaindoh and softball outfielder Dani Morgan all earned the prestigious honor. The postgraduate scholarships are awarded to selected student-athletes who intend to pursue a graduate degree following completion of their undergraduate requirements. Each recipient will receive $6,000 toward his or her graduate education. Those honored have performed with distinction in both the classroom and their respective sport, while demonstrating exemplary conduct in the community.

Cunningham, a communications-public relations major, is a four-time All-American. He became the first athlete to win four straight ACC titles in the 60-meter hurdles earlier this month and is only the fourth male athlete to win four straight indoor ACC crowns in any event. The senior from Winfield, Alabama, was the ACC Indoor Performer of the Year in 2020 and the conference’s indoor and outdoor Freshman of the Year in 2018. He is tied for the FSU and ACC record in the 60-meter hurdles and also broke the ACC Indoor Championships meet record twice, recording a time of 7.64 in 2019 and 7.60 in 2020.

Kaindoh, who graduated in December with a bachelor’s degree in sociology, appeared in 36 games with 10 starts in his FSU career. The Baltimore native twice earned ACC Honor Roll recognition and in 2018 was the football team’s Academic Excellence Award winner. He finished his career with 58 tackles, including 16.5 for loss with 8.0 sacks, 11 quarterback hurries, one interception, two pass breakups and one forced fumble. Last season, he returned an interception 25 yards for a touchdown in a 31-28 win over No. 5 North Carolina that was FSU’s first interception return touchdown by a defensive lineman since 2009.

Morgan, a sport management major, has appeared in 225 games with 203 starts in her career and broke the WCWS record with seven stolen bases while helping the Seminoles win the 2018 national championship. The Newnan, Georgia, native has been recognized on the ACC Honor Roll four times and is a two-time member of the All-ACC Academic Team. As a junior, Morgan posted a .377 batting average with 14 home runs and 58 RBI, and in the shortened 2020 season she knocked in 17 RBI and scored 14 runs in only 22 games played. In 2017 she was named ACC Tournament MVP and to the All-ACC Freshman Team.

Florida State has produced 64 ACC Postgraduate Scholars since 1994.
