How To Register Q & A
Here are a couple of questions that have arisen along with the answers to assist and help you register for our Friday, May 3 – 5th 2024 Convention – “It's Historic!”
How do you register?
A - Attendees go to https://md20lionsconvention.org.
You click 'Register' which you see in several places on this website. When you click register, you will be prompted to fill out the correct information. When you checkout, they have a 'Zeffy' option to help allow Lions Clubs to keep every cent Lions are trying to raise to serve by having attendees help pay the banking/credit card transaction fees as well as the cost of the Zeffy registration platform we are using. Competitor pricing for this service, like Eventbrite, charges up to 8% for this service. Attendees DON'T have to donate anything but they can choose to help out with the suggested amounts in the drop-down menu, pay your own amount, or again, nothing. We hope you can help though. Again it saves Lions 8% of the total of your registration and or Convention meals.
When Lions register online, does it help cut down our printing costs?
A) HUGELY!
If people register online will there be a need to hand them anything to check in at the Convention registration tables?
A) When registered, you will receive a receipt with a Registration QR Code that you need to show when you check in at the Convention. You will also receive links to purchase your meals. Each meal purchase creates its own individual Meal QR Codes that you MUST bring as proof of purchase on your smart device (cellphone) or by printing them to show them. Otherwise, you can't get into the meal that they have purchased.
What is the process for those who want to register onsite on the day of the convention?
A) You can register on-site, but you can't purchase any meals. Not only that, the price for everything (registration & meals) will go up in price. Meal orders are cut off a couple of weeks before the convention to allow the convention staff to coordinate the 1000s of meals they serve during the convention.
If registering onsite you will need to register with a volunteer Lions convention staff member who can assist you.
Please note however that this is time-consuming for our volunteers so we are asking to register BEFORE you get to the convention, unless you are just not able to. Essentially at the check-in table, we're going through the exact process to register you as you would have if register online. Not to mention when they register online you are helping save Lions $$$ to reduce the actual cost to this Lions' Multiple for running the convention.
Does anyone need training to review and learn the new registration procedure?
A - Only our volunteer staff who are working the registration tables, registering people on-site who didn't register online ;P
In truth, the actual registration system is very easy by just following the prompts but if there are questions you can certainly reach out to Maria P at the District Office or Aaron D through the contact form below. Zeffy.com - our registration technology partner - also has superb customer service to answer questions.
Since we are a volunteer organization, especially as we get closer to the convention, it may take a day or two to get back to those who need questions answered. So the earlier everyone registers or tries to register to know they have an issue, the better.
We can't wait to see you – it's historic!
We'll have all the programming and workshops to allow you to choose from posted at the beginning of March 2024.
Follow our State and district Social Media and newsletters for any updates and the latest announcements for this special, historic convention.
Oh, this year we've stepped up our technology offerings by partnering with Zeffy.com. Every convention that the Lions hold around the globe is a fundraiser for the Lions' organizers. The Zeffy event/ticketing, crowd-funding solutions for not-for-profits will handle (pay for) all our banking and credit card charges when you register for the Convention and purchase your meals to make sure that every dollar going towards our Convention goes to us --- every single dollar.
To do this they'd love you to try Zeffy for your Lions Club initiatives that need online solutions like eCommerce, crowd-funding, or raffles and the like. They also will ask you to help them by donating a percentage - like tipping) of your purchase for your registration and each meal you buy now gets early bird pricing for both until April 2024. You don't have to give anything but helping them out; helps us and every not-for-profit they are trying to help raise more funds for.
Oh, and Zeffy LOVES Lions. NY and Bermuda's MITT co-chairs are working with them to build better program options to help customize Zeffy for Lions initiatives. That will be at no cost to Lions Clubs. Contact Lion A 'eh!' if you have any further questions.
