Now is a great time to enjoy coastal walks, beaches and sunshine at the Abel Tasman Coast Track says award-winning luxury Nelson motel Century Park Motor Lodge.

The award-winning luxury South Island motel, Century Park Motor Lodge in Nelson is encouraging everyone to get out there and explore an iconic part of New Zealand – the Abel Tasman National Park.

Lush native forests, golden sand beaches and brilliant blue water all are waiting for you at Abel Tasman National Park. Abel Tasman Coast Track is just a short drive from the buzzing city of Nelson.

This wilderness reserve is known for the Abel Tasman Coast Track, a long trail winding over beaches and across ridges between Marahau in the south and Wainui in the north.

“You can choose to hike the whole track, water taxi between different locations or kayak from Mārahau to campsites in the southern section of the track at any time of the year,” advises Century Park Motor Lodge owner-operator Stacie Warren. The track can be hiked in either direction, depending on the tidal crossing at Awaroa.

However it should be noted that the walk is not a circuit track, so some form of transport needs to be planned at either end. “Shuttles and water taxis are easy to book in advance,” says Stacie.

Because of its easy accessibility for boats, you have the option to walk a portion of the trail for a day or the entire length over 3-5 days. Or, if you would prefer to paddle, you can take a kayak tour.

This exciting walking route passes through regenerating and original native forest. It’s hilly interior guarantees stunning views up and down the coast. Don’t forget to take the perfect Instagram worth picture to remember the trip by.

“A highlight of the track is Cleopatra’s Pool a natural rock pool with a moss-lined waterslide,” adds Stacie.

Abel Tasman National Park is a heaven for all types of travellers who love hiking, kayaking, biking, canyoning or relaxing on the beach.

If you need a place to base yourself before or after your trip, Century Park Motor Lodge is a great choice. Their spa suites are great for relaxing and unwinding after the long hike. Additionally, Century Park Motor Lodge will happily store any bags or luggage while guests are away walking the Able Tasman, so you won’t have to worry about them.

It is important to plan your trip thoroughly to ensure you stay safe.
