It is easy for us to think and act in our own isolated little corners. But Ephesians 4 powerfully reminds us that in Christ there is only one God: one Father, one Lord, one Holy Spirit, and that – notwithstanding the huge variations in culture, understandings, emphasis, and practice (and our own peculiarities, blind spots, weaknesses and strengths) – there is actually only one Christian faith, one baptism, one hope. And there is only one church, the worldwide body of Christ.
On that basis, Ephesians 4 calls us to humility, gentleness, and patience with one another, in the love of Christ, making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit. Much harder done than said, but an indispensable component of every believer’s calling in Christ. Something we all need to work on every day, in our own particular context, and beyond what we find comfortable.
On a macro level, New Zealand Christian Network is deeply committed to our spiritual oneness in Christ, and to greater Christian collaboration in the cause of the Gospel in this our country.
Next week, we will be sending you a key email. Don’t miss it!
