Investing in Inclusive Neighborhoods

This 2-day event has passed. Watch a recording of day one, day two  or see below.

Investing in Inclusive Neighborhoods explored strategies for community-driven, place-based investments that support equitable housing valuations and small/minority-owned business growth that leads to long-term wealth.

During the event, speakers discussed the need for equitable housing valuations, investments into small and minority-owned businesses, and how to ensure investment does not lead to displacement

On day one of the event, speakers talked about policies and implications of disproportionately low asset valuation, especially in Black neighborhoods, and the associated high cost of development. A local panel of community development organizations discussed the challenges they face when working to revitalize and reinvigorate neighborhoods, including strategies to prevent the displacement of homeowners and renters.

Day two of the event featured a conversation about investing in small and minority-owned businesses as a comprehensive approach to neighborhood revitalization that also benefits the region. A local panel of business owners, lenders, and mentorship organizations discussed the economic and social benefits of such investments that contribute to building generational wealth.
