Hello Tribe!
Don't know about you but after a nail-biting afternoon watching the Men's Wimbledon final and then the football final later that evening, I'm feeling very deflated this morning. So, I'll keep the message brief.
When Saka did not manage to score with the final ball, and Italy shot to victory we all sat in stunned silence. It was over. My heart broke when I watched grown men cry on that field, bitter disappointment tangible across the frequencies. And then my eldest son said something very wise. He said, "Do know what mom? This is only going to make them stronger."
And of course, he is right. The ability to absorb disappointments and pick yourself up and try again after learning from mistakes is what sets apart the successful from the unsuccessful. But at least for today, I think we are allowed to feel rather 'meh'.
Most important: AGM tomorrow night @20:00
This is a final call for all members to please attend the AGM tomorrow. We will also be hosting our speaker, Dr Mitchell Colver who will talk us through 'The Heroe's Journey' which is a critical aspect of any good story. As it is also the AGM the committee will report back on the year past and you will elect a new leadership team to take Sutton Writers forward. It's been quite a year for Sutton Writers with a few bumps along the way. It was a Dicken's year: the best of times and the worst of times, but we made it through. Thanks to all of you.
As many of you know, Kirsteen Coupar will be stepping down as Chair. She did a tremendous job during her term and we are sad to see her step down but grateful that she will remain an involved member of the committee and continue to contribute her valuable insight and ideas. Thank you. Kirsteen!
I'd like to mention again that it's time to renew your membership, and if you do so before 30 September 2021, the annual membership remains a very reasonable £30 for the year. After 30 September, annual memberships will be £40.
Hope to see you all on Tuesday at our AGM!
