Ada Lovelace Day is just two months away on Tuesday 12 October, and we're looking forward to celebrating the women whose discoveries or inventions have changed the way we live and how we understand the world. The question is, who are those women? We’d like you to tell us who you admire most and why! We want to hear about women whose inventions have changed how we live, women like Hedy Lamarr who invented radio frequency hopping, used these days in tech like Bluetooth. Or Dr Patricia Bath, who invented laser cataract surgery. Or Cecilia Payne-Gaposchkin who discovered that stars are made of hydrogen and helium. We especially want to hear about lesser known women, women of colour, and women who aren’t from Europe or North America! Just leave a comment below with your nominee’s name, her discovery/invention, and a link to more info or you can just send me an email with your suggestion, and help us compile a long list of awesome women in STEM! #ALD21 #AdaLovelaceDay #AdaLovelaceDay2021 #womeninSTEM #womenintech #womeninscience #womeninengineering #stem #women #science #tech

It's a challenging time to put prices up, and I've delayed publishing this announcement here because it is a bit of a scary step, but after 15 years it's about time we nudged our lowest sponsorship tier upwards a little bit.

Ada Infrastructure, sponsors of Ada Lovelace Day Live, are highlighting the contributions of women in STEM, starting with mathematician Gladys West.
Introducing Ada's STEM Spotlight Series, a program dedicated to highlighting heroes in the field of STEM, uplifting their impactful contributions. Premiering this series, we proudly feature Gladys West—a remarkable mathematician and technology trailblazer. Graduating as valedictorian from Virginia State University, Gladys joined the naval base in Dahlgren, VA in the early 1950s, becoming one of the first two African-American women among four Black employees. Her pivotal role in the Seasat project laid the foundation for today's Global Positioning Systems (GPS), involving data collection from Earth-orbiting satellites and groundbreaking work with "supercomputers." In recognition of Gladys West's monumental contributions to modern GPS technology, she was inducted into the Air Force Space and Missile Pioneers Hall of Fame during a ceremony in 2018 at the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. Today, we celebrate Gladys West as a distinguished STEM trailblazer whose impactful work continues to shape our technological landscape. #STEMTrailblazer #GPSInnovation #GladysWestLegacy #AdaInfrastructure #SustainableFuture #DigitalInfrastructure #AdaLovelace #TechnologyForGood #DataCenterCapacity #TransformativeCompanies #CommunityImpact #PositiveImpact #WomenInStem https://lnkd.in/dVNAqT2E

It’s my belief that you can’t be an advocate for gender equality if you ask women to work for free. So I don’t.
