About

Communication / Achieve CLB 7 and CLB 8 are FREE higher-level LINC (Language Instruction for Newcomers to Canada) classes.

Focus of these courses:

LINC Course – Communication / Achieve CLB 7:

  • Students will enter this course with a minimum CLB 5 in all skills.
  • The focus of the course will be on mastering CLBs 6 and 7.
  • Students will graduate upon achieving CLB 7 in all skills.

LINC Course – Communication / Achieve CLB 8:

  • Students will enter this course with a minimum CLB 6 in all skills.
  • The focus of the course will be on mastering CLBs 7 and 8.
  • Students will graduate upon achieving CLB 8 in all skills.

Higher LINC classes (CLB 7 and CLB 8) provide upper-intermediate language skills that lead to better integration by having more participation in Canadian society (community connections, volunteering, civic engagement etc.) and for job interview and job conversation.

Communication / Achieve CLB 7 and CLB 8 provide lessons designed specifically for internationally educated professionals and skilled workers who have professional training or experience in their sector but need to improve their communication skills to be more competitive in the job market.

  • April 3, 2024 – June 26, 2023
  • Monday/Wednesday
  • 6:30 PM – 8:30 PM

Eligibility

To be eligible for the LINC Communication / Achieve CLB 7 & 8 classes, you must:

  • Be age 18 or older
  • Be a permanent resident of Canada, or Convention Refugee, or be a person in Canada whose application for Permanent Resident status is being processed in Canada and who has been informed by a letter from Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) of the initial approval of your application subject to an admissibility assessment (this means you have approval-in-principle)
  • Be physically within the province of Ontario

Course pre-requisites:

  • Minimum CLB 5 – to enroll in LINC Course – Communication / Achieve CLB 7
  • Minimum CLB 6 – to enroll in LINC Course – Communication / Achieve CLB 8

You are NOT ELIGIBLE for LINC if you are a:

  • Canadian citizen
  • Refugee claimant
  • Temporary Resident (such as foreign student, foreign worker or visitor)
