29th November

Wishing you a Wonderful Christmas !

Stay safe, joyful and peaceful!

Isaiah 9:6-7

Hallelujah, the Messiah is born!!

For unto us a child is born, unto us a son is given: and the government shall be upon his shoulder: and his name shall be called Wonderful, Counsellor, The mighty God, The everlasting Father, The Prince of Peace.

Of the increase of his government and peace there shall be no end, upon the throne of David, and upon his kingdom, to order it, and to establish it with judgment and with justice from henceforth even for ever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this.

We celebrate Jesus, who is the reason for this wonderful season we call "Christmas". We thank God that the Christ child came to save us from our sins. God became flesh and dwelt among us.

We want to remind you that you are blessed to be a blessing. Let's give to those in need this holiday time, whatever little you may have, someone has less than you and would be delighted to have you share what you have with them.

Woodbrook Pentecostal Church is no different, this year we continue with the distribution of our Christmas hampers and we encourage all who may want to contribute to contact the church office for information on ways you can be a part of this drive.

God richly bless you and your family!

Ephesians 5:15-20

Living by the Spirit’s Power

15 So be careful how you live. Don’t live like fools, but like those who are wise. 16 Make the most of every opportunity in these evil days. 17 Don’t act thoughtlessly, but understand what the Lord wants you to do. 18 Don’t be drunk with wine, because that will ruin your life. Instead, be filled with the Holy Spirit, 19 singing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs among yourselves, and making music to the Lord in your hearts. 20 And give thanks for everything to God the Father in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Rev. Osbert Williams - Woodbrook Pentecostal Church -

16th October, 2016 (Excerpt)

You are valuable in this season of your life.

Sometimes we devalue ourselves and live like we are unimportant. You are important because God has need of you, wherever you are planted.

You need to live accurately. Walk diligently, walk purposefully.

You must understand and appreciate the season you and others around you are in.

A word of Encouragement from Sis. O' Brien

3 Exult in his holy name; rejoice, you who worship the Lord.

4 Search for the Lord and for his strength; continually seek him.

Matthew 5:13-16

We are Salt and Light!

Let's influence and shine for God's honour and glory!

13 “You are the salt of the earth. But what good is salt if it has lost its flavor? Can you make it salty again? It will be thrown out and trampled underfoot as worthless.

14 “You are the light of the world—like a city on a hilltop that cannot be hidden. 15 No one lights a lamp and then puts it under a basket. Instead, a lamp is placed on a stand, where it gives light to everyone in the house. 16 In the same way, let your good deeds shine out for all to see, so that everyone will praise your heavenly Father.

Ezra 8:21-22 - The Message

A proclaimed Fast

I proclaimed a fast there beside the Ahava Canal, a fast to humble ourselves before our God and pray for wise guidance for our journey—all our people and possessions. I was embarrassed to ask the king for a cavalry bodyguard to protect us from bandits on the road. We had just told the king, “Our God lovingly looks after all those who seek him, but turns away in disgust from those who leave him.”

ROMANS 13:1-7 -THE MESSAGE

To Be a Responsible Citizen

1-3 Be a good citizen. All governments are under God. Insofar as there is peace and order, it’s God’s order. So live responsibly as a citizen. If you’re irresponsible to the state, then you’re irresponsible with God, and God will hold you responsible. Duly constituted authorities are only a threat if you’re trying to get by with something. Decent citizens should have nothing to fear.

3-5 Do you want to be on good terms with the government? Be a responsible citizen and you’ll get on just fine, the government working to your advantage. But if you’re breaking the rules right and left, watch out. The police aren’t there just to be admired in their uniforms. God also has an interest in keeping order, and he uses them to do it. That’s why you must live responsibly—not just to avoid punishment but also because it’s the right way to live.

6-7 That’s also why you pay taxes—so that an orderly way of life can be maintained. Fulfill your obligations as a citizen. Pay your taxes, pay your bills, respect your leaders.

Isaiah 58:6-11

The Fast the Lord has chosen!

6 Is not this the fast that I have chosen? to loose the bands of wickedness, to undo the heavy burdens, and to let the oppressed go free, and that ye break every yoke?

7 Is it not to deal thy bread to the hungry, and that thou bring the poor that are cast out to thy house? when thou seest the naked, that thou cover him; and that thou hide not thyself from thine own flesh?

8 Then shall thy light break forth as the morning, and thine health shall spring forth speedily: and thy righteousness shall go before thee; the glory of the Lord shall be thy reward.

9 Then shalt thou call, and the Lord shall answer; thou shalt cry, and he shall say, Here I am. If thou take away from the midst of thee the yoke, the putting forth of the finger, and speaking vanity;

10 And if thou draw out thy soul to the hungry, and satisfy the afflicted soul; then shall thy light rise in obscurity, and thy darkness be as the noon day:

11 And the Lord shall guide thee continually, and satisfy thy soul in drought, and make fat thy bones: and thou shalt be like a watered garden, and like a spring of water, whose waters fail not.

TAKE A LAUGH!

WHO CAN'T HEAR

A man goes to the doctor, concerned about his wife's hearing. The doctor says, "Stand behind her and say something and tell me how close you are when she hears you." The man goes home, sees his wife in the kitchen, cutting carrots on the countertop. About 15 feet away he says, "Honey, what's for dinner?" Nothing. He gets halfway to her and repeats the same question. Nothing. Very concerned, he gets right behind her and asks again "What's for dinner?" She turns around and says "For the THIRD time, beef stew!"

Will you remain in constant dread of human oppressors?

Will you continue to fear the anger of your enemies?

Where is their fury and anger now?

Imprisonment, starvation, and death will not be your fate!

From the desk of the editors!

We greet you in the Name of our Saviour and Lord, Jesus Christ, the Name that is above every other name. We know some of you are missing the interaction that we enjoyed every Sunday in our classes, but we give God thanks in everything, for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning us.

It is such a pleasure to be able to communicate with you in spite of all that's happening during this period. We really trust that you have been enjoying the offerings that we have presented to you for the past several weeks. We welcome any feedback that you may be willing to share that would help us in making our website better.

We hope you have been trying out some of the recipes and would be happy to post some of the photos you may have taken. In addition, you may have a recipe that you would like to share with us, it would be a delight to upload it for everyone to benefit from your culinary skills.

There may be persons who have something that we can include on our Website; a video, you teaching, a song you especially like, inter alia, that too would also be welcomed.

We take this opportunity to thank our Pastors, teachers and members for your wonderful contributions to the CED website over the period.

Please send your contributions to Karen Anderson-Rouse or Judith Derby at cedwpc@gmail.com. Looking forward to hearing from you.

How we love you!

We admire your strong protective nature. You guard us spiritually and emotionally.

Thanks for your sacrificial nature when you put our needs above your own.

Thanks for your comforting arms that have embraced us when we cried and felt discouraged.

Thanks for the hand of discipline that we did not appreciate at the time of its administration but we have since grown to see and understand what you were saving us from.

Thanks for defending us against people who wanted to take advantage of us.

Thanks for making home a safe place to be and showing us how to love our heavenly Father.

Grandfathers, uncles, and all men who have lovingly cared for us as if we were their own children, thank you.

To all our wonderful men, your invaluable leadership, love, protection and provision have not gone unnoticed.

1 Peter 4:7-11

Practice Hospitality!

[7] The end of the world is coming soon. Therefore, be earnest and disciplined in your prayers. [8] Most important of all, continue to show deep love for each other, for love covers a multitude of sins. [9] Cheerfully share your home with those who need a meal or a place to stay. [10] God has given each of you a gift from his great variety of spiritual gifts. Use them well to serve one another. [11] Do you have the gift of speaking? Then speak as though God himself were speaking through you. Do you have the gift of helping others? Do it with all the strength and energy that God supplies. Then everything you do will bring glory to God through Jesus Christ. All glory and power to him forever and ever! Amen.

LUKE 17: 7-10

WE ARE UNPROFITABLE SERVANTS

But which of you, having a servant plowing or feeding cattle, will say unto him by and by, when he is come from the field, Go and sit down to meat?

And will not rather say unto him, Make ready wherewith I may sup, and gird thyself, and serve me, till I have eaten and drunken; and afterward thou shalt eat and drink?

Doth he thank that servant because he did the things that were commanded him? I trow not.

So likewise ye, when ye shall have done all those things which are commanded you, say, We are unprofitable servants: we have done that which was our duty to do.

Joshua 1:8-9 (KJV)

Meditate on the Word of God

8 This book of the law shall not depart out of thy mouth; but thou shalt meditate therein day and night, that thou mayest observe to do according to all that is written therein: for then thou shalt make thy way prosperous, and then thou shalt have good success.

9 Have not I commanded thee? Be strong and of a good courage; be not afraid, neither be thou dismayed: for the Lord thy God is with thee whithersoever thou goest.

A word of encouragement from Elder Roderick Pinheiro

The Word of God is Infallible

2 Timothy 3: 16-17

All scripture is inspired by God and is useful to teach us what is true and to make us realize what is wrong in our lives. It corrects us when we are wrong and teaches us to do what is right.

God uses it to prepare and equip his people to do every good work.

MAY 10th- MAY 16th

On behalf of the students and staff of the Christian Education Department, we want to say thank you to all our mothers. We truly appreciate you.

We value the myriad demonstrations of love : changing diapers, helping with home work, support for various projects and sporting activities, the discipline meted out to us, the countless words of encouragement, caring for us when we were sick, the many delicious healthy meals, investments in our education, keeping us safe , gifts , the many hugs and kisses and the numerous other things you have done for us and continue to do for us that we cant possibly list in this space. Thank you!

To the other women in our lives: grandmothers , aunts, teachers, mentors and friends, we thank you for being conduits of love to us. You have mothered us in so many spiritual and emotional ways that have truly enriched our lives. Thank you!

Praise ye the Lord. Praise God in his sanctuary: praise him in the firmament of his power.

Praise him for his mighty acts: praise him according to his excellent greatness.

Praise him with the sound of the trumpet: praise him with the psaltery and harp.

Praise him with the timbrel and dance: praise him with stringed instruments and organs.

Praise him upon the loud cymbals: praise him upon the high sounding cymbals.

Let every thing that hath breath praise the Lord. Praise ye the Lord .

Let us listen to this exhortation from Elder Gibson

We celebrate our exemplary mothers in our church.

Thank God for loving aunty mommies.

Rev. Angela , a cherished mother.

Nathanael and his wonderful mom Fabienne.

To put an estimate on how much my mother has sacrificed for me and all her children, I can't even think of a number that big. You are the strongest most resilient woman I know. A powerful woman of God and faith stronger than an ox. Like everyone else you have your down time where it seems like everything is crumbling, but even then you never lose faith. You're not afraid to put yourself on the back burner to help others and I admire you for that. I'm going to be honest you do upset me at times but nobody's perfect. I hope one day I could grow to be just like you: strong, confident, honest and loving. Happy Mother's Day and I love you.

Chelsea

She has such a quiet strength. We appreciate this amazing woman who loves God and people so much. She is always looking for ways to help people and support her family in practical selfless ways. We couldn't ask for a better mom. ❤️❤️❤️

We pray that God keeps you in his care. May joy, peace, happiness and good health always follow you. We are thankful for the lifetime of love showered upon us.

2 Timothy 1: 6-7 New Living Translation (NLT)

6. This is why I remind you to fan into flames the spiritual gift God gave you when I laid my hands on you.

7.For God has not given us a spirit of fear and timidity, but of power, love, and self discipline.

Greetings from our pastor, Rev. Osbert Williams

Mark 16:5-6

5. And entering into the sepulchre, they saw a young man sitting on the right side, clothed in a long white garment; and they were affrighted.

6. And he saith unto them, Be not affrighted: Ye seek Jesus of Nazareth, which was crucified: he is risen; he is not here: behold the place where they laid him.

April 19th- April 25th

Though an host should encamp against me, my heart shall not fear: though war should rise against me, in this will I be confident.

One thing have I desired of the Lord, that will I seek after; that I may dwell in the house of the Lord all the days of my life, to behold the beauty of the Lord , and to enquire in his temple.

For in the time of trouble he shall hide me in his pavilion: in the secret of his tabernacle shall he hide me; he shall set me up upon a rock.

He that dwelleth in the secret place of the most High shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty.

I will say of the Lord, He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.

Surely he shall deliver thee from the snare of the fowler, and from the noisome pestilence.
