Dear USET/USET SPF Family,
Recently, the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) updated its quarantine and isolation guidance, and the USET Tribal Epidemiology Center (TEC) reviewed this guidance as well as the evidence behind the changes. After extensive review, the TEC has come to the conclusion that a ten-day quarantine (regardless of vaccination status) and isolation period would better serve our member Nations, see Guidance 2022-02. The communities we serve are simply too vulnerable with too much at stake to risk recommending measures that do not protect Tribal citizens as much as possible. That said, USET fully supports Tribal sovereignty and the TEC is always available for consultation to assist in tailoring these recommendations to best meet the needs of individual Tribal Nations. Beginning next week, TEC staff will be reaching out to USET membership to offer assistance in battling this latest wave of COVID-19.
Distribution of At-Home Rapid COVID-19 Test
In preparation of the federal government’s distribution of At-Home Rapid COVID-19 testing kits that will be made available to every household via online ordering beginning January 19, 2022 at COVIDTests.gov, the USET TEC has prepared guidance regarding home testing strategies to assist Tribal Nations in keeping its citizens as safe as possible, see Guidance 2022-01.
USET TEC will continue to monitor CDC guidance and testing strategies as they become available. We’ve prepared an updated Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs) that summarize the latest information and guidance.
VAX-A-NATION Campaign
Last but not least, the USET TEC is very pleased to announce the release of our Vax-a-Nation campaign materials. This campaign targets those USET Tribal Nation citizens who are vaccine hesitant and uses language that was vetted by focus group participants. These digital materials include the resources you need to create a variety of hard copy materials as well as social media posts that can be customized and utilized by your Tribal Nation. Please contact USET’s Communications staff at asnell@usetinc.org & vfrench@usetinc.org if you would like assistance with customization.
Do not hesitate to contact the TEC should you need any assistance at usetepi@usetinc.org
