Dear Heart, I Hate You

Rate this book
It all started with an ad.

"House sitter needed for the summer, free room and board."

Guess I missed the part about the cocky basketball player sleeping down the hall...

Finn Richards is hot, cruel, broken beyond repair. Oh, and did I mention hell-bent on making me quit?

Whatever. It's not like his charms work on me, anyway. I'm immune to his cold, hazel eyes, and I'm not even a little bit curious about what really happened that night.

Who cares that I let him take my first kiss?

Who cares that I'd give him all of my firsts if he just asked?

It's just two months. I can definitely go two months without giving him my heart, too...

Right?

“Only heroes break curses, Gem. And I’m no hero.”
Our eyes lock, and I search her face for a glimmer of doubt. There’s nothing. Everyone in this godforsaken town looks at me like I’m damaged. Beyond help. Everyone but her.
“Have you learned nothing from fairy tales, Richards? We rarely become heroes until the end of the story.”

I’ve been looking forward to read Dia and Finn’s story ever since I encountered them in ‘Dear Love, I hate you’ and safe to say Eliah didn’t disappoint with this book at all. And the fact that we get a duet for Finn and Dia has me all hyped up since they deserve their own happy ending.

If anyone is confused about reading first book before this one, I would just like to make it clear that though you don’t really have to read the first book before reading this one, I would still recommend it cause I enjoyed the first book a lot too! This book timeline takes place before and during the timeline of book 1.

“For that one fleeting moment, he was real. And maybe… Just maybe… Finn Richards isn’t the monster I made him out to be.”

I knew I was a goner for Finley Richards , the moment I heard he was broken and a tortured soul and then fell in love with him even more when I discovered HE LOVES HIS DOG. It’s just something about him being a player or a jerk to everyone and acting like he doesn’t care about anyone but a cute softie when it comes to his dog sksksks 😭😭😭 There were moments where I was annoyed with him but it totally made sense with everything he went through and honestly, I just wanna give the guy a warm hug cause the stuff he went through was hard as hell🥲🥲

“She’s flawless. Point-blank. She’s what my sweetest nightmares are made of. An innocent, cunning little thing I’d do anything to taste.”

Diamond Mitchell is so witty, sassy and kind. I loved how she didn’t let anyone get to her and how she wanted to make a name for herself and didn’t put up with nonsense. I adored her patience, kindness and everything in between. I loved how she balanced Finn out and their banter was wholeheartedly amusing to read.

“You’re the only fucking thing that matters to me.” Finn disconnects from my breasts to mark my neck with purplish wounds. “I’d die for you, Dia. I’d kill for you. Tell me you know that.”

The chemistry these two had was UNREAL🥵🥵 I really don’t think I can even explain it cause it was so freaking crazy. The way they balanced each other, understood each other and were there for each other when one needed was so wholesome. The guy was so freaking jealous he hurt himself and the “hate everyone but you” trope was so well done like stop making me fall in love with them even more ✋🏻😩

“You shouldn’t have come back.” His words feel like knives. Even after all of this, he’s still pushing me away? “Why?” Pain drips from my voice. In response, Finn traps my face into his palms and stares me dead in the eyes, something dark and possessive flickering to life in the backs of his irises.
“Because now, I’m never letting you leave again.”

I would highly recommend to read the TW before once and I can’t wait for the next book cause the cliffhanger was 🥲🥲

“I made a deal with the devil without reading it first. Of all his pretty lies, I love you was the worst.”

Style: Enemies to Lovers Romance (High School)
Story: 3.5/5
Enjoyment: 3.5/5
Dark Level: 0/5
Sexual Level: SEX-CITINGLY GOOD
Triggers: Yes
Violence: No
Male: Always Angry
Series: Book 2 (cliffy)
Pages: 349
Audio: N/A
Kindle Unlimited: Yes

STORY:
WHAT I LIKED:
First chapter, very interesting and it spiked my interest. Finn’s rude attitude and Dia thinking what the hell have I got myself into attitude went well together in the beginning of the story. Finn was that bad boy who no matter what refuse to show his emotions even when it’s obvious to everyone else. Dia gave me innocent but transgression in to little bit of a wild child towards the end. I like that towards the end, Dear Love, I hate you over laps with certain scenes.

WHAT WAS SO SO:
That damn house that Dia is house sitting. Liked the concept, and it was exciting for a bit, but the further I read, it started just becoming ok. The author kept them in that house too long. I do understand Dia is house sitting for the whole summer, however, I felt like things were repetitive in the house, the looks, tease not going all the way, then coldness. I was starting to get cabin fever because the house being the predominant scenery of most of the story was too much for me, as it did not allow many interactions. Ironically, by 80% when Dia is no longer house sitting, and they are back in school, my interest spiked high again, because change of scenery. There are more people involve and adding to the storyline. I like Dia, but I lowkey did not like who she was becoming once her and Finn’s relationship progressed. I also didn’t like how quickly she forgave Finn after their physical encounters at times when he would walk away, she made it too easy for him. Lastly, I was a little bit disappointed that this was a cliffy. In Dear Love, I Hate You, there was no resolution for them, in Dear Heart, I Hate You, THERE IS STILL NO RESOLUTION FOR THEM! Would I want to read to see what happen in part 2…. Yeaaaaaa.. but I wouldn’t want to read another full length about it.

SEXUAL CHEMISTRY
Finn and Dia’s sexual build up was good. Their make outs were just as sexy as their sex scenes. I love their chemistry. Had one or two I want you throat grab, sex toy, and anywhere but a bed at times moment.

SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
I liked seeing Vee from book one. In this book, she isn’t with Xav’s yet as Dia and Finn’s story is playing out. I still feel the same as I did in book one, Vee is way too good of a friend to Dia and I don’t see it being returned. I am interested to see where the author will take the rest of the characters, Theo, Hadley, Lacey and a few others.

OVERALL:
Was I entertained? Yes. Did I like the story? Yes with a few buts. Would I read the other books in the series? Yes, but still undecided on book 2 of Finn and Dia, let’s see.

TRIGGERS: underage drinking, assault (not really graphic)

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.

Trigger Warnings:

I started this series because of the amazing Mel🌜, I read the last chapter of this book and just HAD TO READ this series. So I already knew the ending of the book but I can’t wait to see what happens in book 3, I want a lotta grovel and a proper explanation. Eliah Greenwood has me hooked. After reading this book, I appreciated book 1 more, I recommend you read Dear Love I Hate You before this because it takes place during the same time, I did rate it lower but it was entertaining. This book starts a little before book 1 but the books have the same characters and events. I appreciated and felt bad for Vee more in this book but I was surprised to like Dia. I was annoyed with her at the beginning of book 1 but ended up loving her so when I read this, I didn’t expect to love her from the start. Finn was an asshole and he fucked around which I hated, but unlike Xav, it truly felt like he was obsessed and loved Dia. There was more of his POV here which was good but I have so many questions and need answers. Finn and Dia had a lot more chemistry and moments compared to Xav and Vee. Dia had a bigger backbone compared to Vee which made me love her. I highly recommend this series, even book 1, despite me hating Xav.

Dia is in need of money to buy her dream car so she is forced to work as much as possible. She becomes the housesitter for Finn, who is making her life a living hell. Finn doesn’t want Dia around even though she takes care of his dog well. So he decides to pull pranks on her until she breaks. But from the pranks he’s pulled she seems to take it and deliver back with more punch.

Now for spoilers

A huge thank you to Mel🌜 for recommending this series, ONTO THE NEXT BOOK. That is all, stay safe folks!

I loved the first book in this series. It is a pen pals romance with genuine characters and Finn and Dia are mentioned quite a bit so I was looking forward to their story.
Their romance is split into two books actually and this first one focuses on how they met and became a couple (even if they were not officially dating).

Dia is employed by Finn's dad to house sit during the summer and take care of Leslie, a very sweet retriever. Finn is supposed to be away to basketball camp all summer but he's thrown out after a few days. He hates the idea of Dia's presence and he does his best to get her to quit including all kind of pranks and behaving awfully.

Dia is the responsible and sweet girl next door type, always on the sidelines and Finn is a problematic teen jock, trying to wreck his life at every turn cause he feels responsible for his mother dying when he was 8.

This book is darker and more angsty than the first one in the series and for more than 60%, Dia and Finn's story is a back and forth hate to love dynamic. And it's clear these characters truly act their age.

I think that if you like books with genuine characters, books with animals and a lot of steam, you'll probably like this book.

I felt that the hate to love lasted a bit too long and took away from the pacing and made the romance less believable. I was also not a fan of how the main characters acted some of the time but I am looking forward to reading the second part of their romance.

Safety: some OW vibes; 4+ explicit scenes
TWs: parent loss in the past, loss of an animal, suicidal thoughts

forced proximity, roommate, hate to love romance, my boss’s son, reformed playboy?!?! eliah greenwood gave and knew what she was doing okay!

for starters, when i read dear love, i hate you, i immediately fell in love with that book along with dia & finn. so when i heard they were getting a book: i of course like a sane person would, freaked out because of how much i loved them in the first book.

dear heart, i hate you has been one of my most anticipated reads for as long as i can remember and finally getting to read it MADE MY HEART BURST! i adored this book so much.

dia and finn. the way these two have my heart 110%. i love love LOVE their dynamic so freaking much. finn, the popular bad boy who acts like he doesn’t care about anything. expect for her 🥰. and dia! the baddest out. i adored her kindness yet sassy personality. these two are everything. seriously my favorite couple in the easton high series. their banter was chefs kiss! their hate/love relationship was to die for. and their falling in love made me swoon.

this whole book kept me on the edge of my seat. i was completely eating this story up! and when all was fine… it was not😭 i so was not expecting any of that. miss eliah greenwood you got me and you got me good! im still panicking and shaking. may cannot come any faster. like seriously, skip over my birthday and just give me dear heart, i miss you PLEASE!

overall, you’re missing out if you don’t read dia and finn period! this story was a gem (haha crying) of a book and i will never stop talking about these two!

and thank you so so much eliah greenwood for sending me an arc of DHIHY. 💘💘💘

****AVAILABLE NOW****

4 STARS

Another captivating story from Eliah Greenwood.

What I loved:

1. Finn is the typical bad boy, playboy hero I love. Broken and angry, but with a heart underneath. Her was such a jerk, truly, but the tiny moments that he shared (and they are tiny) with Dia make you like him. His protective nature and dirty mouth. Yes. Just yes.
2. Dia will be hard from some readers. She constantly goes back and forth with hating him and then giving in, but there was something in him that she was drawn to. She is also incredibly kind and wants to see the best in people, even the awful ones.
3. Their emotional intimate moments were truly special, and though few and far between, they were enough to bind them.
4. The ending was brutal. I need all the answers in the next book.
5. Eliah Greenwood can write an enthralling story that keeps you turning the pages with drama.
6. The dirty talk and steam was so good! Soooo good.

What I needed more of:
1. There was a lot of time spent on them getting together and the enemies part. I would have loved to see more of them together before it all fell apart again or even cut some of this out and make it one book.
2. Lexie, although I loved her, didn’t seem like reason enough to keep Dia coming back time and again. As the book went on, it seemed less plausible.
3. I wish the suspense and secrets would have been threaded through a bit more.

Like I’ve said before, she can write a story that draws you in. The drama, the angst, the dirty talking heroes and steam, keeps me reading. I’ll definitely be anxiously awaiting the final book of this duet.

****ARC REVIEW****

Please note, while this did not affect my ARC review rating there are definite inconsistencies and some wrong usage of words, and while this was an ARC there were similar issues in the last book, which I read as a final manuscript. I hope those things were fixed in the final manuscript.

🦮 Forced Proximity
🦮 School Bad boy
🦮 Strong/ Feisty Heroine
🦮 All the angst and Feels

If you loved dear Love I hate you, then you are going to love this too! 🙌

Just another reason why Eliah Greenwood is one of my favorite authors! Every book I’ve read of hers has exceeded my expectations, and dear heart is no different. She really packs an emotional punch with this one.

I knew the minute I read “Dear Love, I Hate You” I needed Finn and Dias story. I defiantly wasn’t prepared. This story had me feeling it all, I laughed, I cried, I cheered Dia on a time or two as sticking it to Finn 😉. Stories that make me feel have been hard to come by lately and Eliah has proved that her writing does that. I couldn’t get enough of these two. There were some total swoony moments that had me falling hard for Finn, even when he was making it hard on me, I still loved him.

What you think you know about Finn from “dear love I hate you” is not the Finn you get on this book. He’s complicated, broken, and intense. He has so many layers to him that will make you feel for the man who hides who he is by being cruel to others. You will also get to know Dia and the only person who could break through Finns shell. She’s strong and sassy, and I just loved how she doesn’t take sh*t from anyone. She’s my favorite type of “female lead.”

This is technically book 1 in Dia and Finns story, so it does end on a cliff hanger, but do not wait for book 2 read it as soon as you can, it is definitely worth it.

e-book 📱: 5🌟

FIVE EMOTIONAL STARS for Dia and Finn 💙🖤💙🖤!!!

🌟🌟🌟🌟🌟

The first thing I have to do is take a deep breath and wait for all the emotions to fade.

Honestly, I have no idea where to start writing this review because a hundred thoughts and emotions that this book gave me are flying through my head.

The best way to start this review is from the beginning...

Eliah is an author who won me over with her writing last year when I've read her book “Dear Love, I Hate You” which is also the first book of this series.

I immediately fell in love with her writing style and the characters that completely won my heart.

Ever since I finished reading that book, I’ve been looking forward to Dia and Finn’s story.

Although I waited quite a while, the wait was well worth it because “Dear Heart, I Hate You” entirely met my expectations even though I wasn’t hoping for a cliffhanger.

But, I forgive that because the next book is coming very soon so my heart won’t suffer for long in anticipation of the end of Dia and Finn’s love story.

"Dear Heart, I Hate You" is a high school bully romance with enemies to lovers trope that will inflame many emotions in you and whose pages you'll turn at the speed of light just to find out what will happen to the protagonists.

Dia is a female character that I've loved since the beginning of the story because she knows what she wants in life and to achieve it she has to work hard, but like any high school student despite her commitment, she falls in love with a boy she shouldn't.

Finn is a male character who locked his heart because of his tragic past and constantly convinced himself and others that he couldn't let anyone into his life and love, but everything changes when Dia enters his life and shows him that he can love.

And not only that but also to fight for that love to his last breath.

Dia and Finn are a couple that you'll love even though sometimes their behavior will give you a headache, they're still teenagers who make a lot of mistakes and just learning what it means to live in the real world.

In the end, I can only tell that the cliffhanger truly broke me and I'm counting the days until “Dear Heart, I Miss You” release day.

If you loved the first book from this series "Dear Love, I Hate" and you also love the enemies-to-lovers trope, then this book is definitely for you!!!

Highly recommended!!!

This is Finn and Dias story. An enemies to lovers romance. Finn is a broken young man as he witnesses his Moms drowning at a young age.
Finns father asks Dia/Diamond to dog sit for the summer not knowing his son would be home.
Finn doesn’t want her there. At all. He goes to great lengths to get her to leave but Dia is now invested in the dog and also needs the money.
Things get better as they get to know each other and Dia tries to help him fight his demons until their whole relationship goes off the rails. This book has a cliff hanger ending of not knowing what’s going to happen to them.
I found this book enjoyable and can’t wait for part 2.

ALL MY REVIEWS CAN BE FOUND ON MY BLOG: ABSTRACT BOOKS

line

Star Rating : 4.5/5 Stars

POV : Dual

Cliffhanger : HUGE ONE!

Hero : Finn

Heroine : Dia

Pace of the story : Moderate

Angst Rating : 8/10

Heat Rating : 6/10

Triggers Involved : enemies to lovers , bully , past trauma

Overall Opinion :
I have been waiting for Finn and Dia ever since I met them in the first part of that series. The first book of this series might have been a standalone but this one is not. It’s a duet and this book ends on a cliffhanger and that too a huge one! I just wish someone told me about the cliffhanger lmao , because I was shocked! But anyways , I am willing to wait for the next baby of this series and then finally have the ending Finn and Dia deserve.

The one thing that I love about this author is her unmatched angst level. Her books are not dark , they are contemporary but the way she plays with your emotions , her scenes , the words , it just forces you to feel everything that characters are going through. I develop an amazing connection to the characters with that! They cry , I cry , they are happy , I am happy and so much more lmao. The same was the case for Finn and Dia. This one was a cut throat enemies to lovers romance with a bit of bullying as well. Finn hates Dis and even though he has his reasons , he does not make it easier on the poor girl. Every time I read a chapter from Dia’s pov , I felt her pain and hated Finn for that , But every time I read a chapter of Finn’s POV I got to know about his anguish , his hidden love for Dia and that eventually made me fall for our broken hero. The ending of this book was just OMG. It was shocking and angsty and downright painful and I am losing my mind to get the second book of this duet!

Definitely recommending this one to all the contemporary enemies to lovers romance loving people out there. I am sure you all will dig this one and fall for Finn and Dia just like me!

Dear author, are you f*cling kidding me??????????????????????? 😒

Now you are seriously going to write 300 pages of Finn begging for Dia’s forgiveness while you could have done that adding more 80 to 100 pages and actually give us a full beautiful love story.

Money is everything in this business. And I feel like a clown 🤡

Don’t get me wrong this book was amazing but the end sucked! And badly 😒

**Second Read**

It’s still an all the stars kind of read. Even after reading it a year later. Finn is still the heartbreakingly mean dickhead heartthrob he was the first time round, only this time it’s more heartbreaking because you know why he’s like what he is in the first place, plus you know what’s coming, you can see the train derailing from the get go.

I have a hard time loving anyone as much as I do Finn Richards and Dia Mitchell. Both are characters with layers and depth and they grow so much in the span of just 22 chapters. I like that we get a little bit of side characters, but not too much that they overtake the story. And I live the fact that Finn screw up and is imperfect through and through as is Dia. It’s so endearing and realistic! I love it - if you couldn’t already tell!

The emotional trauma this book causes every time I read it is ridiculous. But I love it. The angst, the high stakes drama, Finn and Dia!! I love it all and I have every intention of devouring the next book as quickly as I did this one!

**First Read **

Here it is. The first book of the year that gets an ‘All The Stars’ accolade. Trust me when I say, Finn Richards is the real deal. Not only is he emotionally unavailable, but he’s also an absolute douche canoe of the highest order. He has a filthy uncontrollable mouth and well, he likes to use his fists to solve problems - see? Perfection. His mission is simple, make Dia Mitchell’s life as hellish as possible.

Dia, now she’s a character. Spinal Cord? Check. Gives as good as she gets? Check. Strong and Independent? Check. Wears her heart on the inside of her sleeve? Checkmate. Honestly she’s such a well written character. Greenwood makes Dia as relatable as they come, and I can’t get over how much Dia is my hero.

What I absolutely freaking adored in this book was the way the bullying was written. There was no non/dub con, no uncomfortable scenarios where Dia is degraded. Instead there are pranks galore and heated stares and sexual tension pulled so tightly you can feel it about to trip you up. There’s one really important quote from Finn that stayed with me throughout both books ..

“But she wouldn’t bend her morals for my approval, and that shit right there is the sexiest fucking thing I’ve ever seen in my life.“

Because that right there, that one sentence, (in fact the whole scene) is so, so important. Dia doesn’t bend to the whim of Finn. And he RESPECTS that. And her for doing it. See.. important. Don’t get me wrong, sometimes in my books I want the asshole to be just a pure shithead asshole, but sometimes it’s nice to read something that makes you go “Wow, boy likes a girl who actually stands her ground.” Ya know?

The friendship group is one you want more from. The kind where you can’t wait to read the stories that shaped their characters. Lacey is definitely one to watch, and Theo, I want his story!!

And the ending. Oh my good lord THAT. EFFING. ENDING!!!!! I swear to all that is holy, you will be left hanging in a cliff edge by your little pinky!!

Eliah, you done it again girl. This book was full of emotion, angst, steam, depth. I absolutely adore Eliah’s portrayal of teenagers and their tendency to be up and down when it comes to their emotions and feelings. Finn is dealing with trauma that the average person couldn’t even begin to comprehend and of course, being a teenager who has so much going on, he doesn’t always handle it in the best way. He’s gorgeous and confident and alluring but he’s doing his best to push out the people he cares about and Eliah does a great job of showing us why. Dia is sweet, patient and caring and no matter how many times she gets hit, she gets back up and shows nothing but kindness to someone who so desperately needs their barriers broken down. She’s head strong and resilient and I love her for it. The one thing that is driving me crazy is that cliffhanger of an ending and how I have to wait until May to find out what happens next. I am so hoping for a Finn and Dia endgame !

What a mess, drama after drama and stupidity on all levels. This story had so much potential, it started well but then it continued to drag on. I have no idea what I just read, everything was all over the place, two main characters were exhausting. I legit only liked that poor dog but knowing that everything I read up to that moment was cluster**ck even the dog had to end up tragically.
Every moment had to be tragic in some way, is this really what all this is about, readers getting off on endless tragedy and misunderstanding yet no lessons learned or progressing in anything?? And then my surprise that all this will not end in this book but it will be dragged on in third book. This is a joke right? What in hell is there to write anymore, how much ridiculous stuff can you make up to keep this story going? It seems to me that it doesn't take much to have a 5 star book these days.

2.5 Stars I'm kind of pissed because nowhere does this say this is book 1 of a duet and ends on a cliffhanger. The first book in this series was a standalone so not sure why this one took a different route of stretching the story out. And it did feel like it was stretched out at times with some random chapters and craziness going on that we didn't need. I also had a hard time connecting with Finn & Dia and I questioned their behavior at times. Their personalities just felt kind of flat.

I'm committed so I'll probably read book 2 to see where all this shit leads, but a heads up would've been nice. I probably won't remember anything that happened by the time book 2 comes out.

Play, pause, rewind, repeat how many heartaches does it take before a heart breaks? Find out in this emotional story.

Finn lost his mother when he was a child, the pain destroyed him and anything that made him feel was pushed down so deep inside himself he lost it for ever. Or so it seemed… until one day one hurricane with a sassy mouth enters his life. Finn is famous for being a trouble maker, his unapologetic behaviour earned him the title with no competition on the field. Yet, this little temptation is making him question everything he thought he would never get or feel…

Diamond is a sweet, caring soul, she takes a summer job as a house sitter with the bonus of cuddling with the cutest of dogs. Shame Finn, the owner’s son is set on destroying her little cocoon. However Dia, isn’t one to backdown, she needs this job to afford her new car and a jock won’t be able to shake her. No matter how hot he is, nor how his touch can set her on fire, nope this girl won’t let her heart feel… if only her heart would get the memo.

Told in dual POV the story is well written with a good narrative pace. I liked Finn and I think the author did a good job in delivering his complicated persona, his development bears his fruits toward the end of this first instalment even if he still has a long way to go. I’m dying to see how he will evolve. Dia was very ill-equipped to face her new adventure, her caring nature called to me however her naïve aside was too much and I might have, not very gently, nudged her to wake the hell up and be more savvy. Both characters show their young age from the way they act, some of the facts happening here are a bit far fetched but also served a purpose in bringing the plot forward. I’m looking for more grownup attitude in book two.The leading were supported by an array of side characters whose stories I would like to read. Beware the cliffy at the end on book one isn’t a gentle fall😉🔥

▪️Dear Heart, I Hate You is book #2 of Easto High series by Eliah Greenwood. It is told from both points of view with a cliffhanger ending.

Genre: Young Adult Romance.
Tropes:
➵enemies to lovers
➵tortured hero
➵ sports romance

Dia MItchell just wanted to save enough money to buy herself a car. It should’ve been simple enough when she was hired to house sit and take care of the cutest border collie ever over the summer. She just didn’t factor in that her boss’s son would show up determined to make her quit.

Finn Richards is drop dead gorgeous. Too bad he’s coldhearted, reckless and broken. But there’s more to him that makes her want to know the boy behind all the walls.

Oh my heart! I practically read this book in a single sitting because Dia and Finn had an incredible magnetism.

Finn was clearly suffering from survivor’s guilt and abandonment because of the tragic accident that took his mother. The only way he knew how to cope was to no care about anything or anyone except his dog.

Until Dia comes along with all her sweet kindness, patience, understanding and beauty. She also doesn’t put up with his nonsense. Of course Finn initially rejects everything about her, but slowly Dia starts caring for him and helps him battle his demons.

Finn still struggles to fully give into their attraction because he feels he’s not worthy of her, but once they do give in sparks fly. Gah! I love Dia and Finn’s all-consuming and passionate romance. Eliah did an excellent job of arousing all these young/first love emotions. Including Dia’s heartbreak at the end and Finn’s hopelessness. I can’t wait to read the second part of their story!

TROPES: Boss’s son, summer fling, new adult, bad boy good girl, all the angst, traumatic past hero, bully/enemies to lovers vibes

Book 1 in this duet🖤

THIS BOOK. Eliah left me speechless with this one. I am absolutely IN LOVE with these two. This story was everything I hoped it would be & more. Ever since DLIHY release I’ve been itching for Finn! Eliah couldn’t have done a more perfect job with the first portion of their story. I’m gonna be honest, it’s raw, rough, painful & achingly heartbreaking. But dang if the journey isn’t so freaking beautiful. Easily became a top read of the year for me & I am so ready to devour the next book when it comes!

I don’t want to give much away because I prefer for anyone to go in blind but please check TW as there are a few slightly darker themes/scenarios. Dia has been hired as Finn’s dog’s babysitter for the summer, without Finn’s knowledge. When they have a hasty unexpected run in with each other in Finn’s home… let’s just say it’s interesting😉
From that moment they both pretty much despise each other. Finn continuously goes after Dia, trying to get her to quit my making her life their miserable. Finn is arrogant, cocky, well renowned play boy which is pretty much the definition of damaged traumatic past. Dia has a kind soul & genuinely tries to do good. Until she’s finally had enough of Finn & MY GIRL HAS A BACKBONE PEOPLE!! From there we just get into all the angsty emotions which I loved.

I seriously can’t say enough good things about this book. READ IT!

*if you’re someone who hates ending on cliffhangers but still want to read it, support the author by purchasing or downloading the book to help boost her release. Then read it closed to the release of book 2🖤

„Du hast mich daran erinnert, dass ich ein Herz besitze, Dia, aber mir war nicht klar, wie ramponiert und kaputt es war, bis du mich heute Morgen stehen gelassen hast. – Finn in Dear Heart I Hate you

*SPOILERS INCLUDED*

“my baby is sobbing in the passenger's seat, and i’m almost tempted to let aveena hit me with her car. i deserve it. i deserve all of it.”

yup, this book was angsty as hell and pulled all the right heartstrings 🥺

okay, be warned this is about to be a long ass review.

i read “dear love, I hate you” exactly a week ago. it’s been a while since i was enamoured with a book. but eliah pulled me in. i really enjoyed it. one thing that stood out to me the most in the book was finn and dia. i was obsessed with them from the beginning. i wanted needed their story. i wanted to know how they got together, why dia thought finn cheated on her, why xavier claimed that finn didn’t.

coming to the book:

ok i’m obsessed. lexie’s the cutest thing ever. i had a feeling something was going to happen to her cause i couldn’t remember reading about her in dear love, I hate you. but when it happened, when she died, i couldn’t stop crying. it hit really hard for me. i have a dog who’s sick and i don’t know how long he has left. so reading this while imagining my dog broke me.

finn’s really been through some shit, hasn’t he? i can’t even imagine the pain he’s going through. the sunset scene was so heartbreaking and real. but finn had to go and ruin it 😃

the push and pull between them was actually really interesting to read. i always get annoyed when authors do it though. they make it seem so dramatic. but the way eliah wrote it, oh my god, it felt so real. this is exactly how two teenagers in pain would act. reading this book has really been a breath of fresh air.

when finn finally gets his head out of his ass, i was the happiest girl on the planet. the way he calls her baby has me giggling and blushing 😭 they’re so cute.

“everything but you” oh god, they’re definitely in my top 3 fav book couple. they fucking own me.

“six months later” - its coming. the break up, the cheating rumours. i wanted to stop reading the book here and fool myself that they lived happily ever after but no. nothing could have pulled me away from the book. i had to know what happened.

WHO THE FUCK IS REMY AND WHY DO I WANNA DOUBLE SLAP AND TRIP THAT BITCH?

man, I have so many questions. who’s remy? what did he find out from the PI? why does the woman he hired keep calling him? is the video real? what’s the story behind dia’s biological parents? may 20 cannot come fast enough.

dear eliah greenwood, i love you. you’ve become one of my favourite authors. i’m so obsessed with you and your books. i can’t wait to read ANYTHING you put out. they’re all so magical and beautiful and angsty and just so REAL 🤍🦋

(ALSO, THEO & ASHLEY, CATALINA & MAL, JESSE - ARE WE GETTING THEIR BOOKS? IS THERE GOING TO BE A SPIN-OFF SERIES? I’M DYING TO KNOW EVERYTHING 😭😭😭)

2.5 | this book was frankly…disappointing.

i was excited for finn and dia when i first read dear love, but they really weren’t likeable most of the time in their book. the book had absolutely no proper pace, it was either moving too fast or too slow at any point. i kept looking for development but there barely was any if not zero, and i didnt not expect finn to be so immature OH MY GOD. i know they’re in hs and he didn’t deal with his grief in healthy ways but he was just petty for literally no reason sometimes? and dia omg i like her but i dont like her more. cause where was her backbone?? she spent literally 75% of this chasing her tail icl.

i understand why the author split their story in two books but i also think this was filled with unnecessary things. i am going to read the next one but this one was just frustrating at some points. like plot points that will probably be answered in the next books were thrown in suddenly like, the last one literally coming in with 2 chapters left. there was barely any build up.

anyways, i miss xav, vee and theo now and i wish i got more crumbs.

Alt, fermi tutti. Che è stato?

Sì d’accordo è un high school romance, sì okay, un enemies to lovers, sì lo so, è una storia non autoconclusiva… Però un cliffhanger così uccide i neuroni!

Ma procediamo con calma. O almeno ci provo.

«Diamine, tu sei come lei…» Sbuffa e beve un altro sorso. «Affidabile, comprensiva, gentile.
