In February and March 2022, the Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation (The Foundation) will be distributing $32,000 in Back to School Vouchers to students across the Eyre Peninsula (EP).

With additional donations received of $1,000 to the Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation and its funding partner, the Foundation for Rural & Regional Renewal (FRRR), the original allocation of $30,000 from FRRR was increased to $32,000.

Since inception in 2009, in partnership with the FRRR, the Foundation will have distributed over $270,000 in Back to School Vouchers in the form of a $50 Shopping Card to assist families in need on the EP purchase school items such as uniforms, school bags and stationery for their children starting the new school year.

Foundation Chairperson, Garry Downey said “The 2021 program highlighted a much greater need for help with basic school equipment than the Foundation program currently provides. Importantly, local communities can support children at their own schools by donating specifically to the Back to School Vouchers program. Funds donated in this way will be matched to double their impact locally, adding to the normal distribution.”

“We still see huge need to continue to help families start their children off well-prepared for their learning years. The support of the FRRR program is truly valued, and their willingness to match locally donated funds creates an outstanding opportunity for EP residents and businesses to boost the impact for local kids.”

Mr. Downey also acknowledged the support of School Principals and Governing Councils with the success of the Back to School Program.

The Eyre Peninsula Community Foundation carefully manages a growing base of donated funds and works with philanthropic and other partners to ensure the best possible value and impact from each of its community projects, regional student advancement and home hospice services on Eyre Peninsula. The Foundation is supported by the invaluable work of the Book Bazaar volunteers and committed administrative staff.
