Sector Based Academy with Amazon – 2021

“Throughout August to October 2021 the ATTFE and Workforce Staffing Team at Amazon collaborated with the aim of encouraging unemployed individuals who were looking for work, to gain employment within a warehouse environment. Ashfield District Council worked alongside the academy to gather eligible applicants for the job centre project and the course was then organised by the ‘Employability Manager Linda Hill’ and ‘Tutor Louise Randall’. Throughout the duration of the project each of the candidates participating in the programme were well supported and guided through the programme, employability sessions were delivered and the correct materials to prepare them for an interview and potential job with Amazon. Each of the candidates received 1 to 1 support from the moment they joined to the course, to the point of employment. Although the programme started within a short timeframe this year, with our last intake on the programme we managed to secure employment for 12 candidates within a 2 weeks period. Overall the job centre programme has been successful and all of the candidates hired through this route are still in employment with Amazon. I would like to thank all the teams involved for all their hard work and dedication with the project. It is personally so fulfilling to see individuals actively looking for employment to now have secured jobs. I look forward to working with you all on the project within the new year.”
