Lovely Bad Things: A Dark Academia Romance (Hollow's Row 1) Kindle Edition
An enemies-to-lovers dark academia romance with a thrilling twist and epic love story from the disturbed mind that brought you the Darkly, Madly Duet.
Halen:
They say eyes are the windows to the soul—but when he looks at me through hues of slate-green and flaring blue embers, I’m terrified of what’s watching me from behind his clashing gaze, something primal and feverish that threatens to melt me like fire in ice.
I fear falling into Kallum Locke’s pitch-black soul.
But after I’m called to a crime scene to investigate the most gruesome act of violence to descend on the legendary town of Hollow’s Row, I have no choice but to turn to Kallum, to the man I had locked away in an asylum for the criminally insane.
He’s the leading expert on all things Nietzsche and occult. And now, to get answers, I’m forced to make a deal with the devil himself.
Kallum:
Really, eyes are the windows to the soul? Then I wonder what little Halen St. James thinks of all the cryptic eyes watching her in the killing fields… I wonder if the hairs on her delicate nape lifted away, if a thrilling shiver raced over her soft skin. She’s desperate for the answer, and she’ll do anything to uncover it—even make a deal with me, dangling freedom like bait on a hook.
But she’s far more tempting to sink my teeth into than any lure.
And the pain will taste twice as sweet.

- Reviewed in the United States on February 26, 2025I swear to god everything this woman write is just perfection! Yet another gripping and captivating story!
Halen is quite the bad arse. She’s strong, vulnerable, sexy and a tad terrifying.
Kallum is definitely a sexy god. Haha with looks that could kill and an obsession that could easily enable him to kill as well. He’s my second favorite book boyfriend. (Grayson will always be my first. lol) he’s strong, protective, and everything you could ask for.
I can’t wait to see where this goes. The story is phenomenal and the picture that Trisha paints is better than any museum exhibit you can find. I’ll be dreaming about the marsh for a while. Hopefully just the spicy scenes! If you’re looking for your next favorite read this is it right here!
- Reviewed in the United States on August 27, 2024This will be the 3rd time I’ve “read” this book. Once actually reading and twice on audible. The new audible is a true duet narration and is amazing. Just like this book. It will always live rent free in my head. This book and series is nothing but twists and turns throughout. If you love psychological thrillers with mind games, then this series will be your new love. Tricia Wolfe is an outstanding writer and knows how to manipulate the words to work and evoke emotion not just from the characters in her books, but from the reader. Freaking phenomenal. Everything you read is not what it seems. Halen is intelligent, strong, but a bit haunted. She’s a profiler and has it down to an art. Or does she?
Kallum is intelligent, charismatic, and a tad obsessed! He’s also just always wanting to push and help Halen every opportunity he can, but why? He is Everything we love in a MMC. The tension is strong in this book, in all aspects, even the spice! 😉
If you are a dark romance reader and a lover of shows like criminal minds, then this is definitely going to be your favorite read. Possibly series.
So run and buy it. You won’t have regrets. It’s one I will always return to rereading.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 5, 2022I will first admit - I am just not smart enough to truly understand this book. This story is like 80% philosophy/history/ big words I have never heard that I had to look up. It was so hard to immerse myself because I couldn’t understand so much and I had to keep stoping to research stuff.
The relationship(?) built well(ish)? Idk - this is not a HEA, it stops at a cliffhanger, there isn’t a release date for the next book and the major plot twist was totally glossed over? And for why? I just don’t understand.
The actual murder is confusing, especially with all the philosophy talk. The romance is confusing because of the weird twist that is glossed over. The smut is decent (2 scenes). And the extra characters developing more at the end of the book? Like you have an entire book to explore your world, your characters, your plot, so you wait until the very end to start opening it all up?
The three is because, at the end, I was addicted enough to the main characters and the straightforward communication style that I still looked everything up and was upset that there wasn’t any more story to read. It’s an engaging story, just hard.
- Reviewed in the United States on March 7, 2025This is just a work of art. I love the dark terror of it all. The confusion. The all consuming corruption of the soul. Her inner fighting and struggle within herself before hitting her breaking point and then coming back from the edge just barely. Its just masterful writing.
- Reviewed in the United States on July 23, 2024Trisha Wolfe has officially become my favorite dark romance author. Lovely Bad Things is a must read for the dark romance lovers that also enjoyed Hannibal and Silence of the Lambs. It also felt like a thriller-esque dark romance which was something I loved about it. I can’t wait to start book 2, and I’m glad I bought all 3 at once!
What would you do if you were brought to a crime scene that made you realize you needed the one person you never hoped to see again? Halen is forced to work with a man she despises. Their dynamic was interesting to read along with this totally bizarre case. There was a plot twist in here that I hope gets more explanation in the next books because woah was that a turn of events! Locke was also kind of interesting, and the dual POV in this book was awesome.
🌶️Spice- wise: there wasn’t all that much. It was more plot driven. I could see maybe the next books getting more spicy possibly. If you want a great plot with a little spice thrown in, this is for you. The chapters that contained spicy scenes were 10, 13, and 14.

Eu amei.

5.0 out of 5 stars Beautifully dark
That feeling you get when you read a book and feel it was written just for you... that's what this story was for me. It spoke to me as an artist not just a reader. The way Trisha Wolfe wrote these characters is art, it's raw, dark, and poetic.

5.0 out of 5 stars Un-Put-downable
The author weaves a web of emotions. The whole story from start to the cliffhanger leaves you wanting more than ever. It feels like you are on this ride along with the characters .. one minute thinking Kallum is the killer next he is the deprived sad soul who wants to be loved by our Dr Halen. The author makes you want Kallum and his depraved ways of loving. The story is far from over, and I can't wait to read the next part and solve the murders.

Ok, I loved this book! It is a haunting and twisted psychological thriller that circles around a murder investigation, though the plot is driven mainly by the electric chemistry and dark romance that binds the two main characters, Kallum and Halen. This was the first I've read of Trisha Wolfe's work, and I was very impressed. The plot is captivating and unpredictable, but also intricate and unsettling. Her writing is striking, poetic, emotional. Most of the thrillers I've read do not have such poetic prose; this was a real treat.
"𝐒𝐡𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐦𝐲 𝐟𝐥𝐚𝐦𝐞. 𝐀𝐧𝐝 𝐈 𝐚𝐦 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐮𝐭 𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐦𝐲 𝐦𝐮𝐬𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐮𝐫𝐧 𝐦𝐞 𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐯𝐞."
Kallum and Halen are an intoxicating duo and I couldn't get enough of them. The majority of this book’s content is just their raw sexual tension on display. Their chemistry is palpable and thrilling, first as a sort of guarded banter and eventually becoming something much more vulnerable and intense. Kallum is one sick psycho, but sexy as hell. If you like a dark and disturbed yet intelligent mind, then you will love him. Things definitely take a turn around the 70% mark, both in terms of the romance and the plot.. things get super freaky and let me tell you I was completely invested in the chaos that spilled out from those pages. I won't be forgetting that any time soon...
This book ends with a cliffhanger and many stones left unturned. Trisha Wolfe's got me hooked and I can't wait to continue this twisted story with the next book.

5.0 out of 5 stars Un vero gioiello che fonde thriller e dark
