National Easwaramma Day 2022

Swami has dedicated Easwaramma Day as Children’s Day the world over, and children are encouraged to participate in a variety of ways to express their gratitude and reverence to their parents who are their first Gurus.

At the 1978 training camp for Bal Vikas (SSE) gurus, our dearest Bhagawan said:
The Bal Vikas is the primary basis of the great movement to restore dharma (righteousness) in the world. The elders are far gone in their ways, and it is difficult to expect change in their habits and attitudes. Children have to be led into good ways of living, into simplicity, humility and discipline.

The ideal of the Bal Vikas is to raise a generation of boys and girls who have a clean and clear conscience. The actual syllabus is not so important as the creation of an atmosphere where noble habits and ideals can grow and fructify.

After a physical absence of three years, over 500 people from around the country congregated at The Bushey Academy, in Bushey on Saturday 7 May 2022 for our National Easwaramma Day celebrations, the flagship event in the Bal Vikas (SSE) calendar.

The programme was packed with performances by children from all eight regions of the UK. Starting off at 10:30am with a carnatic singing performance, there were skits, dances, readings, songs and dramas, all delighting the audience who had gathered at the venue near Watford. Afternoon activities were also organised for the children.

The day concluded with group devotional singing by the children and group photos, not before a prizegiving ceremony for the winners and runners-up of the National Poster and Poem Competition, as well as the distribution of gifts and certificates to all children.
