Opportunities for educators and schools in Scotland

The Open University in Scotland has collated learning and partnership opportunities for all educators and practitioners working in early years, school and further education settings in Scotland.

The collection is broken down across two areas: courses for schools and educators and partnerships for schools and early learning education.

The OU in Scotland team works collaboratively across faculties and external engagement teams to provide innovative, creative and reactive opportunities to the education sector, working with external partners such as Education Scotland, Developing the Young Workforce and trade unions.

Programmes and resources range from nationally recognised programmes, such from as our Young Applicants in Schools Scheme (YASS) and Teachers Learning to Teach Languages (TELT) programme, to the new Code Break app from OU's Mathematics team.

Young Applicants in Schools Scheme

Our Young Applicants in Schools Scheme (YASS), is designed to bridge the gap between school and university, college or employment. The scheme helps motivated students stand out from the crowd. It encourages independent learning and builds confidence. Registration for YASS courses running in the 2022-2023 academic year opens on 25 April 2022.

Teachers Learning to Teach Languages

TEachers Learning to Teach languages (TELT) aims to increase and improve language provision in primary schools. The programme is General Teaching Council for Scotland approved and can count towards postgraduate qualifications. Registrations are open now for the next round of TELT modules, which will start in October 2022.
